Description of 1993 Cadillac Allante |
1993 Cadillac Allante Convertible. Red and dressed in Indy 500 Pace Car graphics with Tan Leather interior. Called “the world’s most powerful front-wheel-drive roadster”. the Allante is powered by the 32 Valve DOHC Northstar V8. 295 HP. 290 lb-ft torque engine. Built with electronically controlled shock absorbers that are "soft" at lower speeds. becoming "firmer" at higher speeds. 4-wheel anti-lock brakes. traction control. and it is a dream to drive at any speed! A Pinanfarina (think Maserati. Ferrari) roadster body on a purpose-built Cadillac chassis and drive train was Cadillac's most prestigious roadster. only 21. 00 built over 7 years ('87 -- '93). The Allante was created to compete with the Jaguar XJS V12 and Mercedes-Benz 300SL. The Allante sold for $65. 00 in '93 yet it was ranked above the Jaguar & Mercedes convertibles by Car & Driver that year. The '93 model was the pace car for the 1992 Indianapolis 500 which required top speeds in excess of 160 mph. They were straight stock Allante's except for added roll bar. seat belt and modified air intake. About 24 stock models were used in the pre-race parade for dignitaries……. all were red with pace car graphics. just like this one. I am selling this car for my Dad and the Allante is located in sunny Vero Beach. Florida This car has a clean CARFAX history report. |
