Description of 1979 Cadillac Seville |
TRUE SURVIVOR IN EXCEPTIONALLY ORIGINAL CONDITION RARE AND ATTRACTIVE 100% ORIGINAL NORFOLK GRAY PAINT! 350 CI FUEL-INJECTED V-8/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WELL EQUIPPED WITH POWER FEATURES AND AMENITIES A/C, AM-FM, FACTORY SUNROOF, CADILLAC WIRE WHEELS GREAT DRIVING GEORGIA CAR; 62K MILES FROM NEW Countering fast-growing Mercedes-Benz sales and expansion of archrival Lincolns model range during the early 1970s, Cadillac began development of a new 'International' sized car in 1973, based on the newly redesigned X-Body Nova. Launched in May 1975, the resulting Seville remains one of the finest designs under GM Styling chief Bill Mitchell. A four-door, vinyl-roof sedan was the sole model offered and the only options offered on these fully equipped cars were a power sunroof and choice of sound systems. The driveline included Oldsmobiles 350 CI V-8, upgraded with a Cadillac intake manifold and Bendix electronic fuel injection, driving a GM Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. Priced in line with Cadillacs senior models, the limited-production Seville enjoyed strong demand. Careful updates during 1975-79 first-series production included choice styling and chassis tweaks and by 1979, 4-wheel disc brakes. High-profile product placements included use on TVs Rockford Files and Charlie's Angels. Featuring nice colors and retaining 100% original paint, this 1979 Cadillac Seville is an exceptionally original vehicle. A Georgia-based example from new, this 1979 Seville has recently emerged from 30 years of storage and according to a recent test drive, it continues to deliver excellent road manners. Loaded with features and options, the Seville includes power brakes and steering, plus power-operated mirrors, individual front seats and windows. Comfort and convenience items include air conditioning, an AM-FM radio and factory power sunroof. While the prior Georgia registration states miles exempt, the Sevilles approximately 62,000 indicated miles at the time of writing are believed original. Riding on a set of Cadillac chrome wire wheels mounting whitewall radial tires, this 1979 Cadillac Seville is a rare and very desirable find as an unmodified, survivor-type example of one of the most successful Cadillac models ever produced.
