Description of 1963 Cadillac Miller Meteor |
You are bidding on a 1963 Miller Meteor Hearse. This vintage Cadillac is a head turner. It has suicide doors and is a 3 way, meaning that the casket can be loaded and unloaded out either side or the back doors. The table is gone but one can be sourced and reinstalled. It still looks fantastic without it. It has been carpeted in the rear with black carpeting. There are 48592 miles shown on the odometer. The engine runs strong, there are no leaks. The window glass all appears to be fine without any cracks or chips. There are straight pipes for exhaust and it is nice and loud. I would love to see it with some cherry bombs and the classic 63 Cadillac hubcaps back on it. The car is green with a black top and black interior. The original color of the car was black. The green paint is pretty worn and you can see the black coming through in places. I took a low powered pressure washer to a strip of the green paint and it flaked off pretty easily revealing the original black paint underneath. You could probably do the same to the rest of the car if you wanted to try to make it black again, or you could touch up the green paint. The front lower bumper ends have some rust holes typical of a 63 Cadillac. They can easily be replaced. Someone installed a camper vent on the rear roof of the car, I assume in the later 60's, as hippies used to think hearses made great luxury recreational vehicles. If I were to keep this car, I would remove that and weld a metal panel in place. There are no draperies in the hearse, but there is some hardware. A set of curtains can be made in your choice of fabric. There is a super tacky old seat cover on the front seat that looks like it came out of someones grandma's station wagon. The actual seat still has all of the tracking and guts, but could use some new foam and a proper upholstery job, as it is split in several places along the seam. The car itself is solid. It is definitely not a show and go 100 point car, but it it has good bones and will make a great drive it while you work on it hearse. I want to make sure that this 3-way hearse goes to a good home. You do not find too many 3-way hearses around any more. This would be a great funeral coach to either drive as is, restore, or customize. It has a great patina. The story behind this car is that some loser dragged it out of a field in Iowa, but he was too much of a hearsetard to give it the attention that it deserved and just stole the hubcaps and put on some ugly some aftermarket wheels and then flipped it for 3 times what he paid. After that, it went to a super nice gentleman who put a bunch of money and time into it repairing things. I bought it from him and replaced some gaskets and cleaned it up a bit, thinking that I would hang onto it. After being out of work for several months since the whole pandemic thing and my crabass husband complaining that I dont need 18 other hearses, I decided to let a few go. I am only looking to get the money that I put into this hearse back out of it. I hope you will give it the home that it deserves. Buyer to pickup or pay for shipping from Palos Heights IL 60463.
