Description of 1993 Cadillac Allante |
Simply spectacular late build date 1993 with the Northstar. By the VIN number this looks like it was one of the last 300 built in June 1993. The last Allante built was vin # 129311…and this one is 129002 built right at the end of the run in June. 1993. Anyone who knows these wonderful cars knows that is important. By the end of the production cycle they had worked out all the flaws. and in this car it shows! Everything works! Even the CD player and the cassette. The CD is a little fussy in ejecting the discs so here's the real bonus: I will leave my Willie Nelson disc in the car…and you can use the 6-disc player in the trunk as well. Please notice as well this car has those truly beautiful $2. 00 optional factory chrome wheels without a blemish. Let's talk about the color. The metallic red with the tan leather is the color combination Cadillac chose to show these cars off as the PACECAR for the Indianapois 500 in 1992. It is a stunning combination. and I get stopped all the time in the grocery store lot with people asking me about what is this "new" Cadillac? I have to tell them it is 22 years old. but as you can see. it looks new. Few nicks and scratches as you would expect in a car this age. Interior is truly great. with the exception the dash is rolling up at the defroster vents. Doesn't bother me. and you cannot even see it when driving. I suppose it could be fixed. but as I say. doesn't bother me. There is a split on the corner of the back bumper as shown. and there is a 16-year old in my house who isn't talking. Oh well. Performance. As you probably already know. the 1993 Allante with the 295-horse Northstar was the fastest car made in America in 1993…. faster than the Corvette. This one still is. Does 0-60 in under 7 seconds. and at 120 mph this car still wants to accelerate. Probably doesn't hurt that it clearly has been well cared for its whole life. Brakes bring it down straight and quiet. anti-lock works perfectly. and traction control gets a serious work out if you accelerate too fast. I'm not a teenager. but will tell you this car burns rubber when it hits second gear. And it is a Cadillac through and through. In 1993 they made some really great changes. Start with the truly comfortable leather seats with lumbar support. Add real General Motors brakes and a CD player with a controlled electronic suspension and you have a real road warrior. Did a round trip to Columbus from Cleveland last week when we had spring like weather. and what a treat. Silent top. comfortable ride. 22-mpg at 75 mph and you have one great trip car. And did I mention the trunk is big enough for two full golf bags AND two overnight suitcases? Road trip. As I said. everything works. Cruise. windows. seats. lights. top pull down motors…everything. Even has a new AC compressor and the tires are probably 80%. That's it. Spring is here and I am onto a new project. Need the room in the garage. This car will go fast…literally. LATE NOTE: I just did a quick search and see that the exact car. right down to the color. just sold on Ebay for $8. 00…so I guess my buy it now price is fair. That car had a vin # in the 126000 and 65. 00 miles. Either way. it was a beautiful car. But if you want this car. I strongly suggest you take the Buy It Now price.
