Description of 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz |
This 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz represents the range-topping Caddy from the final year they had the size to truly own the road. So that makes it extra special to find an example that has been maintained to keep all the best of its vintage and premium presentation. But while you'll love all the classic details, don't forget to check out custom pieces, like the moonroof. And oh yes, the big V8 now runs on propane! The design lines of this generation Eldorado are ones of a legend. It's a true statement of personal luxury with the extra-long hood that begins a crease line that runs uninterrupted through the doors and flows into the sporty rear kick-up. You see it all so well, because the top-level Biarritz added a silver streak of time to draw real attention to this style. White is always a regal look on a Cadillac, especially with a coordinating half-vinyl roof. Bright chrome bumpers, an intricate grille, and color-matched turbine-style wheel covers are all part of that well-presented classic Caddy feeling. So it's nice to have such a well-respected and complete example. The interior continues with the white presentation on the upholstery and doors, and now it's joined by a nice looking red on the carpeting, dash, and seat belts for added distinction. The leather seats have a plush pillow-top presentation that's sofa comfortable. There's plenty of room for family and friends to spread out, and with individual armrests front and rear, everyone can elect to have their own individual space. This has the kind of luxury that made these Cadillacs so special when new, and it keeps them exceptionally desirable today. So you get power windows, power locks, cruise control, and a tilt steering column. There are even provisions for a power front seat and the classic AM/FM stereo w/8-track. They also made a nice newer investment in the air conditioning system to have this blowing cold with modern R134a. There's even a moonroof, which is truly a rare feature to see, even on these luxury Cadillacs. Under the hood is a correct-looking 425 cubic-inch V8. But as you dive deeper into the engine bay, you'll see some changes. This now runs on propane! So this coupe now has extra appeal for those who want to appear a bit more green-minded and/or just want to save up on fuel costs. In fact, these larger body Eldorados are ideal for this conversion, because the massive trunk can hold the new tank and still have space left over for your golf clubs. More than just the allure of cool/clean fuel there has been some nice recent work, including the starter, alignment, idler arm, and an oil change. It keeps its comfy Cadillac attitude with a smooth-shifting three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes. There is a long maintenance file going back to 2003 on this coupe documenting over $16k invested in keeping this classic Cadillac a proper vintage cruiser powered by something special. The sale even comes with the owner's manual packet, too. So this is a well-preserved Caddy that now runs on cleaner propane! Call today!!! |
