Description of 1962 Cadillac Convertible California Car Just Out Of Estate Of Long Time Owner |
This is a very clean original 1962 Cadillac series 62 convertible. This Caddy just came out of decades of indoor storage from a longtime collector's estate. After performing proper post storage service, the car now runs and drives very well. This Cadillac has a clean title in my name with no liens. This Caddy shows 56,xxx miles which is believed to be original. At over 60 years old, this Caddy is an amazing car that has survived the test of time. Details: Body: The body on this Cadillac is quite nice. All panels look to be original to the original and I don't see any sign of accidents. The hood, decklid, and both doors open and close smoothly and positively with nice gaps. I believe this Cadillac was repainted in the 1990's and still gets compliments everywhere it goes. There are no dents to speak of. There is some corrosion in front of the rear wheels where the convertible top well drains and on the passenger lower front fender. These areas would be simple to repair but I left them as is so the new owner can see exactly what they are getting. I can't imagine finding a nicer original body 1962 convertible. Interior: The interior is awesome. The dash excellent with an uncracked dash pad and clean instrument panel. The seats are very nice blue leather as shown in the pictures. The door panels are also very nice. The carpet is is very clean condition. All switches work as designed with the exception of the heater/A/C which I never bothered to look into since I only drive on nice days with the top down. This car has power windows, power top, Wonderbar signal seeking radio, etc. The interior of this Cadillac will not disappoint. Engine: The engine is the factory 390 cubic inch V8. When pulled out of storage, the fluids were changed, the spark plugs were removed and the cylinders were properly lubricated. The engine was then turned over until proper oil pressure was established. The carburetor was rebuilt and a new electronic distributor and coil were installed with new spark plugs and wires. The engine then roared to life and sounds great with no smoking or strange noises. This Cadillac runs very well. Transmission: The transmission is a 4 speed automatic known as the Hydra-Matic. I believe the transmission is also original to this Caddy. It shifts into reverse and drive smoothly. All forward shifts are positive with no slipping or strange noises. The transmission functions just as it should. Rearend: The rearend appears to be original to this Cadillac. The rearend seems to work well with no strange noises. Underhood: The engine compartment is very original and clean overall. It even has the original air cleaner with the factory silk screened instructions intact. All parts appear to be original with tune up parts like belts, hoses, and filters being replaced when bringing the car out of storage. The A/C had a belt installed when it was pulled out of storage. I have a new A/C belt but the A/C should be serviced before the belt is reinstalled due to the long storage. Brakes: The brakes on this Cadillac work very well. The brake booster and master cylinder have been replaced with modern units designed for this vehicle. All rubber brake lines and wheel cylinders have also been replaced. I confidently drive this Cadillac with my wife and 2 kids as passengers. Tires: The tires are brand new period correct whitewalls that were just installed. I found the old wide whitewall tires were near 40 years old even though the tread was still good which helps to verify the mileage. A few of the pictures show to old wide whitewall tires. The thinner whitewall tires are the new tires that are on the car. Undercarriage: The undercarriage is very clean. I don't see any significant rot or previous repairs. With some careful cleaning, the undercarriage will look awesome. Overall: This 1962 Cadillac convertible would be an excellent choice for someone who wants a unique vehicle for weekend cruises, car shows, or date nights. It would also be a great vehicle to promote a business since it will certainly get attention and be remembered. As with any old vehicle, there will always be something you can improve or upgrade to take it to the next level which is great to teach kids values and success. This 1962 Cadillac has a ton going for it. I'm confident you will be impressed. I am looking for a buyer who I can meet in person. There are simply too many scams these days to deal long distance. That said, if you are a buyer who is out of the state or country, I welcome you or a third party to come look at the car. When we come to a deal, I have secure indoor storage to store the car for a reasonable amount of time until it can be picked up/shipped. Please send me a message and let's get the process started. |
