Cadillacs were truly the envy of the elite when this 1956 Series 65 sedan was built. Cutting-edge technology big performance and unparalleled eye appeal made them unquestionably 'The Standard of the World.' Today they still carry a legendary reputation and if you're the sort who likes traditional American luxury there are not many better examples than this.Cadillacs of this era are a true exercise in style. Everything from the gold crest in front to the gas cap hidden behind a flip-up taillight are designed to make every other driver jealous. Of course everyone knows the true standout is the chrome and on this one $14K was recently invested in refurbishing and replacing all the brightwork. Now this Caddy shines like the star it is. Chrome always looks better on the darker colors so the metallic Cobalt Blue provides one of the best combinations on this car. But once again the people at Cadillac knew how to add style and so this one wears its factory correct two-tone paint with a Sonic Blue accent top color. With all this blue on the outside it is only fitting to have the inside feel like a deep blue ocean too. Two wide bench seats provide better comfort than a pillow-top mattress and the legroom is expansive front and rear. Matching door panels new carpets and contrasting gray paint on the dash give it a cosmopolitan air that suggests an artist at work here and all the little trim bits shine brightly. Note that this car carries some interesting features such as a power front seat and its original AM radio. Jet-age styling dominates the instrument panel and steering wheel which is simply gorgeous and everything works like it should. The trunk is so massive that the original-style full-size spare can sit vertically.Cadillac's 365 cubic-inch V8 engine was the icon of the industry. General Motors was only beginning to spread V8s to the rest of its family of cars during this era. So Cadillac still reigned supreme with this big motor that carried nearly one third larger displacement than anything that was available at Chevrolet. But where Chevy was beginning the business of hot rodding Cadillac's cubic-inches were utilized to make sure comfort was achieved at every speed. This means the motor is brisk with a smooth expensive-sounding hum from the well-damped dual exhaust system. The engine bay appears to be highly original with Cadillac Blue paint still clinging to the block an original air cleaner and all the accessories intact. This is a true highway cruiser with a Hydramatic automatic transmission power steering and power brakes (with new brake light wiring). While this Cadillac looks and feels truly authentic to 1956 one nice upgrade is the modern Goodyear tires. They give exceptional grip in all weather and are barely noticeable because they hide behind the original chrome wheelcovers. The next owner even gets a bit of fun pouring through the owner's manual and shop guide.
