Description of 1971 Chevrolet Camaro |
For sale is a 1971 Camaro. It was completed about nine months ago using a rust free body with no motor. transmission. or interior. The original owner’s intent was to use the body to build a drag car. I purchased the body and listed below are the modifications that have been made since my purchase. The car presently has approximately 800 miles on the drivetrain and suspension. The Camaro was dark blue metallic but due to the addition of a high-rise hood to clear the big block engine. the new hood and trunk were repainted with a nonmetallic medium dark gray. A 468 cu in. Chevrolet big block crate engine (with high compression pistons and forged crank) was installed. Along with a freshly built heavy-duty 350 TH transmission and new Lokar shifter. It has a 1500 RPM stall converter. A new aluminum radiator and high-capacity cooling fan was installed. The engine also required a new high output distributor and headers along with new tailpipes(3 inch) and mufflers. A high-performance. high output starter was required to clear the headers. A completely rebuilt 10 bolt Chevrolet rear end with a new positive traction unit and 3. 73 gear was installed. The front end was completely rebuilt replacing all bushings and new gas shocks. New tires were purchased for the front with the rear having passable tread. The car is equipped with Chevrolet rally sport rims. Both the back and front seats were reupholstered with the original style seat covers. The car is presently running a 750. CFM Dual end float Holley carburetor using 93 octane pump gas. This set up was chosen to make the car more streetable. With the addition of a 850 Demon carburetor and 110 octane gas is estimated that the car will produce approximately 650 to 700 hp. The car is running 3 inch tailpipes and high flow mufflers. It may be a little loud for some areas of the country and therefore could be illegal. Problem areas: the instrument cluster on the dash does not work. It has not been repaired since we were going to replace it. A new Digital instrument cluster will be supplied with the car. If the purchaser does not care for this type of instruments a $700 allowance will be provided. (A small instrument cluster has been installed for temperature. oil pressure. and amps. ) The hood will need to be adjusted for about a half-inch forward to narrow the gap between the nose and hood. There are some small dings and chips in the paint. but no rust or large blemishes. The original hood can be supplied with the car. The carpet is the original carpet and slightly faded. could be dyed or replaced. We guarantee the car to be exactly as described; it will start and run every time. But due to the high horsepower there's no guarantee or warranty. Please review our feedback rating. We have never had any complaints that were not quickly resolved to the purchaser’s satisfaction. I'm selling this car due to the fact I'm 70 years old and arthritic. it is very hard for me to get in and out of (It's called living in the past and exercising poor judgment ). I want to purchase a non-chopped four-door Street Rod. I would consider a trade for a nice Rod and pay boot for the right car. If you have any questions please e-mail me and I will call or e-mail you back. We will help with transport of the car. We will deliver the car within 200 miles of area code 37617 free of charge. We will also help in securing a carrier if needed. We accept PayPal in any other form of payment (some forms will need to clear the bank). Contact us if you would like to inspect the car before purchase. or would like to have a local mechanic inspect it for you. |
