Although pretty much the same underneath as the previous year. topside was all new! For the first time. the Coupe came standard with a "T-top" featuring removable roof panels. as well as a removable rear window making it a true targa! Hidden headlights were vacuum operated as were the windshield wiper door. A unique fiber-optic light monitoring system on the interior console was a carryover from the Manta Ray show car. And if you ordered and automatic. you got the new 3-spd Turbo Hydra-Matic 400! Astro Ventilation was introduced in ’68 eliminating the need for vent windows. It's not often that we run across an "unmolested" Shark like this one. Although the interior has been spruced up. this would still qualify as a very original example. It has a matching #’s 427/390hp big block still sporting its smog pump. Turbo 400 3-spd automatic transmission. P/S. factory am/fm radio. original paint and nice documentation including the P-o-P. Owner’s Kit. owner history and more! This is an early production car built in 2/68 and sold out of a Chevy dealer in San Francisco. CA. And in CA. it has remained. slowly working its way south until Mike finally purchased it. Along the way it's been maintained until finally being but into storage in the early '80's by its second owner. When the third owner took possession of the car it had a bit over 24k miles on the odometer. At that point. work was done to get the '68 back on the road which such as new brake calipers w/stainless steel sleeves. brake pads. brake lines and a rebuilt master cylinder. Some other work included a radiator re-core. new valve seats. and a thorough tune-up.
