Description of 1960 Chevrolet Impala |
Up for Sale is a 1960Chevrolet Parkwood Wagon. I used to drive this car on the back roads all the time and had a blast. Car has great patina and was never in a major wreck. I am the 2nd owner and the original owner hit a deer at some point and replaced the front fenders. Most of the car has its original paint with the exception of the tail gate. There are misc dents and dings on the car but nothing to major. This car was a daily driver for a long time and subsequently shows it use. The motor is a 2 barrel 283 and I was told that it was rebuilt once or twice. I am not sure whether or not it is original. It fires right up unless it sits to long. The carb needs rebuilt or replaced and causes the motor to miss under heavy acceleration. It could also use a fuel pump because it seems to loose its prime on occasion. I have only been driving it short distances in our yard and would not consider taking the car on a long trip. The brakes need bled or inspected because it seems that only 1 of the front brakes is working. The trans is a 2 speed power glide that shifts decent and gets the old girl down the road. I'm sure its a little tired but I have never tried to go 75 mph. The interior is in decent shape considering its age. Of course it could all be replaced but it is not so ratty that you couldn't throw a blanket on the seats and go. The door panels and headliner all have something wrong with them and are far from perfect. The dash looks nice and most of thegaugeswork but 1 or 2 is cracked. As far as i know most of the electrical items on the car work but I have not tired them all in a long time. The frame is solid and overall the car only has minor rust on the exterior. The floors need replaced and I think they have some tin riveted over the holes. The rear tail gate has a broken hinge but the window rolls up and down fine. The original owner added some aluminum braces to the roof for his camping supplies. I think all the windows are in good shape but the windshield may have some scratches from the wiper arms. The bumpers have a dent here and there and are twisted in more than one place. The front and rear valances are also dented and damaged. I tried to take photos of the good and bad. The car needs a complete restoration or do like I did and enjoy it the way it is. Please look at the pictures and ask questions. I have a clear title for the car and may be able to transport for a fee. Thanks |
