Description of 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza |
Up for auction is my 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza. This is a beautiful example of a 63 Monza that I have enjoyed owning for the past 5 years but now it is time to move on to other things. I will do my best to accurately represent this car so you can bid with confidence. Please message me if you have any questions. If you are close by and want to come see the car you are more than welcome to do that, n fact I would encourage it. First, ven though the car has won a trophy at every show I have entered it into it is NOT a 99.9 point concourse car. On a scale of 1 to 10, would rate this car about an 8.5-9. It runs and drives like a dream! I have been around Corvairs my entire life and this is without a doubt the tightest Corvair I have ever driven. There are no squeaks or rattles while driving and it idles so smoothly and quietly that many times at a red light you will think it shut off. Yes, he engine runs that smooth and quiet! There is no rust on the car. I included some pictures of underneath so you can see the floors and trunk are solid. As you can see the car has a gorgeous black paint job with classic red and white interior. It has the high performance 102 hp engine, -speed transmission, nd a 3:55 positraction differential. It is completely stock except for 2 items; 1) obviously the wheels are not stock (but they do look good on the car!) and 2) the points and condenser have been replaced with a Pertronix ignitor. Replacing the points with electronic ignition dramatically improves the car’s reliability and you can’t tell by looking that it isn’t stock! I have replaced some wear items to maintain the car, hings like the perimeter seals, ransaxle mounts, uel pump, tc. The carburetors were rebuilt by Wolf and perform flawlessly. The original material push rod O-rings have been replaced with Viton O-rings and the car does not leak a drop of oil! I believe the car has 22,000 original miles. I don’t know exactly what documentation you need to prove original miles on a car but I have service records from the previous owner that showed the mileage around the 19,000 mark in 2001, nd my Ohio title showed the mileage as 22,000. Unfortunately, hen I moved to Tennessee and transferred the title here they do not put mileage on the title, o I lost that bit of documentation. But based on the records and the way the car drives I believe it is a true 22,000 mile car. Please don’t message me saying what documentation I need to have for proof of mileage, don’t care. I am telling you what I have and what I think the mileage is. You can choose to accept the documentation I have for the mileage or you can assume it is 122,000. Now for what I know is wrong with the car. 1. Drivers side high beam bulb is burned out. 2. Right front tire has a stripped stud. 3. Drivers side U-joint is making some noise. I have a new U-joint that goes with the car I just haven’t had time to install. 4. Clutch grabs high and throw-out bearing is making a little noise. I know what you’re thinking, does it need a clutch?” I don’t think so because the clutch doesn’t slip, n fact it grabs really well, t just grabs high. It could just need adjusting. But this is a 52 year old car and the clutch could go out tomorrow, ext year, r ten years from now. I don’t think it needs a clutch but I want to honestly represent the car. I have included many pictures at different angles so you can zoom in and see all over the car, ncluding underneath. Please let me know if you have any questions. I have done my best to accurately describe the car but this is a 52 year old car. There is NO warranty or Guarantee. This car is being sold AS-IS WHERE-IS. Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction close and full payment within 7 days. I WILL NOT RELEASE THE CAR UNTIL ALL FUNDS HAVE CLEARED MY BANK. |
