Description of 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

We belong to the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America and participate in club sponsored tours every year driving my '38 Chevy. The wife expressed an interest in driving some but she's not proficient using the '38's standard transmission so I bought this '62 Biscayne from a fellow club member because of it's condition and it has a Powerglide transmission. We took it on tour this spring and the wife decided it's too large a car for her and it's uncomfortable for me to drive so it's going to find a new home.
I wasn't there when the car was born but the previous owner told me he bought the car from the first owner's estate after he passed away. He said the executor of the estate told him the indicated mileage is correct and accurate. The previous owner said he had the brakes replaced (including the rubber hoses), ew shocks installed and a new muffler & tail pipe installed. I had the front end aligned at which time the alignment shop said the ball joints didn't 'need' replaced but where starting to show wear. Because this is the wife's car I had him replace all of the ball joints. The alignment guy said he'd never seen a car that old with a front suspension that clean. I've also converted the car to power steering using OEM parts and converted it to a spin on oil filter. All of the original parts will go with the car to the new owner. I found an NOS backup light kit and installed it.
The car shows normal wear and tear for a car of that age and miles. Some of the rubber gasketing is hard. The car has been painted at some time. Looking at the rear bumper there's an indication it was tapped on the right rear and repaired. Lacquer paint doesn't age well so that repair is likely why it was painted. It's a good paint job and the body repair looks to me to be quite good. The car starts & runs well. It's a 283 2bbl & has the Powerglide transmission. The ride is good as to be expected from a large car like that. The engine does have a but of an oil leak. I replaced the valve cover gaskets since that's a common leak point for that engine. It slowed the leak but didn't stop it so she does mark her spot when sitting.

While this car is in exemplary condition for a 53 year old car, t IS 53 years old and is not new. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AN INSPECTION BY YOU OR A QUALIFIED APPRAISER. I don't want to be part of a claimed horror story about a car bought on the internet.
Hagerty's pricing guide says a 1962 Biscayne Sedan is worth just under $7K in grade three condition. For some reason ebay won't let me put a link in the listing to the Hagarty pricing site. The car is for sale locally and through the club so I reserve the right to end the auction early if the reserve hasn't been met. I'll be more than happy to answer any question about the car. If the reserve is met the winning bidder will need to make a non refundable deposit of $500 via paypal within three business days. The balance will need to be paid via bank to bank wire transfer or in cash. I will accept a bank draft or cashier's check BUT it will have to clear my bank (up to two weeks) before the title or vehicle will be released. Once confirmed payment has been received and cleared my bank. I'll make the car and title available to the seller and/or their agent.
Arranging transport is the responsibility of the buyer. I will accommodate the transporter during normal daylight hours. I don't have room on my road for a semi but I'm only two miles from town and will be happy to drive the car into town to load it on a transporter.
