1962 Impala 9-passenger wagon - 90% finished project, unning, riving car, ll there. Was parked from 1995 until I bought it April 2014 (see previous condition photos). • Mechanical: 350/350 from 80 model Camaro, ower steering, on-working original a/c has all parts except compressor; manual brakes completely rebuilt/replaced except for master cylinder. Engine compression is good all cylinders, ebuilt Quadrajet with stock manifolds. Trans serviced with new fluid, ilter, an gasket and o-ring on shifter shaft- no leaks. • Body/Interior: amateur bodywork 95% done and currently in Matrix System white epoxy primer (originally an Ermine White car with 2-tone blue interior). Rust fixed: front floors/braces, oth front fenders and driver's quarter - all rust cut out and new metal welded in, ery minimal filler - have all photos of bodywork, few shown here; seats have been professionally reupholstered in blue vinyl, ot original design (metal backs of both fold-down seats still need to be painted along with metal seat edge trim and some floor and tailgate panels - I bought custom-mixed paint in original colors for interior); new carpet and sound insulation have been installed except for 3rd seat area, have materials to finish that. All original interior parts not yet painted/installed are here with hardware bagged and marked and have photos for fit and location. Lower sections of all door panels and armrests have been reupholstered to match light blue vinyl seats, pper sections are decent quality originals with chrome buttons. • Wheels are driver-quality 15" Keystone classics with good rubber. Glass and chrome/stainless are very good to excellent except for minor spots in windshield. Both bumper filler panels new. Tailgate glass replaced with new 1/4" plexiglass because glass is no longer available aftermarket (I found a good original piece of glass but discovered afterward there were 2 sizes made and the one I bought doesn't fit the chrome trim surround.) • Electrical: All lights/signals work, orn has working button under dash. Dome light works but unsure about idiot lights. Water temp light stays on but I believe that's a ground problem. Rebuilt wiper motor installed (washers/washer bottle not connected yet). I haven't driven the car other than around the block/yard, nsure about speedometer, ut have replaced the cable and its drive gear. I've spent hundreds of hours and thousands$$ in parts (have all receipts) doing a driver-quality restomod on this straight old wagon for the past 15 months. Hundreds of photos to document work done are on photobucket. Gas tank was removed and cleaned, ines blown out - I've mentioned the major stuff, ut way too much work and too many new parts to list here. Current title/regis. in my name. Main items to complete this project are 2k primer and minor finishing bodywork and paint, nterior metal trim painting/install, eadliner/visor material replaced, lus tailgate window switch or wiring fixed (power motor works on bench test and switch in tailgate has power when turned by key, o switch may be the culprit?). I've started upholstering the narrow interior door divider lower panels and may finish before auction ends. I have new windlace strip not yet installed. Tailgate plexiglass is currently out along with rear seats and interior metal panels. Original air conditioning parts: firewall box and interior vents are in place, ut no compressor or lines under the hood. I have all new power steering hoses, eed to be installed. My progress has slowed on completing this car, 've just decided I'm getting too old for big projects and ready for a change; I may consider equal value classic trades or possibly a nice newer pickup, ut no 4-door sedans or bikes/atvs. Contact me if any questions or if you want to wade through all the photobucket 298 pics. Bidders with no current or negative feedback WILL have their bids canceled unless you contact me first. Sorry, ut no time to waste. Thanks.
