Description of 1971 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 C3500 |
1971 Chevrolet C3500 1 ton dually pickup truck Ive enjoyed these trucks for 15+ years and owned many different models - I currently have 4 trucks from 67-72. I originally purchased this truck to pull the camper to the lake since it was heavier and had the dually rear-end. Ive since expanded my family to 4 and we simply cannot all fit in one vehicle for the family camping trips. Im the 2nd owner of this truck originally from Texas and purchased this from an estate where the original owner had passed. I was told he purchased new from a local dealer in Texas and this was only one of 1400 1 ton trucks made that year - especially rare since many of them had flatbeds or were made into dump truck or tow trucks. At that time you ordered the truck and then the dealer added the special options such as the A/C, nd rear fenders for this truck. The bed is a 8 1/2 foot bed with the extra addition on the front (see pictures). These beds were very rare and only came on some 1 ton trucks and camper specials - Ive seen just the 6" bed extension go for well over a $1000.00 in good condition. Keep in mind this truck is almost 45 years old, owever I feel its in excellent condition. The body is one of the best Ive ever seen for an original truck - see pictures of the rocker, ab corners, nd underside. This truck has no rust outside of some surface rust here and there - not common to see with these trucks. The bed is in great shape as well still retaining the factory undercoating and has had the oak floor replaced with new stainless steel hardware. The bed hardware for this truck is over $1300.00 since its special order for the 8.5 foot bed. The stain on the oak floor has peeled, owever the integrity of the wood is solid. This is a truck and has normal dents and dings - overall the body is straight. All body panels are original to my knowledge and fit nicely. Mechanically its a 350 V8 with double hump heads, urbo 400 automatic transmission, nd posi-rear-end (unsure of gear ratio but travels down the highway nicely). The A/C was installed by the factory but didn't originally come on the truck. It is not in working condition and would probably need to be replaced - vintage air makes an amazing kit that I just installed on one of my other trucks. The engine is in running condition and would recommend a tune up (probably not suited for a long road trip). The transmission shifts nicely and is in working order. The interior needs some attention - the fuel gauge and heat gauge do not work, he radio doesn't work, nd the cables for the heater are froze. I would also recommend replacing most of the rubber seals on the doors and windshield sincethey are showing some age and are hard/brittle. Overall this is a solid truck and unlike most wouldn't take much mechanically. Please call with any questions - Matt 913-484-6609. Ive described the truck to the best of my knowledge and please ask questions. I can take any additional photos if needed to send for review. |
