Description of 1962 Chevrolet Impala

Classic 1962 Chevrolet Impala 2 door Hardtop with 327-4 barrel V8, ual exhaust, owerglide Automatic Transmission and Factory Power Steering. I bought this Impala from a private party several years ago. He was in his late 80's and decided to thin out his collection. He owned it since the late 1970's. He stated someone had just painted it just prior to his purchase and nothingbody wisesince. I am sure it is lacquer as it shows some age crazing you would expect to find. The car runs and drives straight with a solid front end, ightsteeringetc but needsbrake work finished. Previous owner stated he would drive it anywhere with no concerns but now obviously brakes are a concern to me. I installed complete rear brakes last fall ( shoes, ylinders and hardware etc) after noticing a wheel cylinder leak. Fronts need same complete done as front brake cylinders are swelling and looks like bleeders would wring right off but i never got back to complete. There is still some air in lines. Due to sketchy brakes car will need to be trailered. I just installed a new fuel pump last week. I also installed a new rear trans seal last fall and noticed when shop got cold in winter front seal shrinks and drips trans fluid. My opinion is this cardeservesa full restoration. It appears both rear complete quarters have already been professionally replaced. Car trunk pans have some typical rust spots but overall not bad. Rear inner quarters look good. Car needs floor pans ( typical ). I have 2 clean (l&r) OEM floor braces I acquired ( goes with car ). The last 2 feet of the x frame flat rails just in front of rear bumper are soft and have holes but the rest of the frame is solid. Ihave a totallya rock solid spare X frame that took much time to track down that goes with car ( 63k mile granny car frame - see pic ). I looked at many before finding one that would pass my total inspection. I intended to build that solid frame first before pulling body for floor pans. The glass all looks like it may have been replaced? as all is exceptional. Grille and trim etc non-pitted and appears they probably found NOSpieces at time of paint. Interior is way above average and dash, teering wheel, hrome etc is exceptional. No pits on metal knobs etc. Extremely impressive. Nobody has ever even drilled under dash etc for a aftermarket stereo (totally non molested). Previous owner stated the clear seat covers were on it when he purchased it. Headliner and visors lookfantastic. This car appears to have every single component they came from factory with so there should be no searching for parts . 63 impala SS hubcaps were on car when I bought it as He liked them better than stock 62 units. Under hood everything intact as built. I was told everything is original ( motor, rans etc ). Motor runs good but will show trace of blue smokeoccasionally and carb needs accelerator pump. Car charges as should and power steering works great with no leaks etc. My opinion is that it is a good time for a totalfresh up overhaul. I love doing these rebuilds but I have too many vehicles/classic projects etc and college age kids. You know the story. Don't worry I have plenty more toys to play with. I will add to info as I think of things and answer questions etc. I prefer anyone thinking of buying this car to make arrangements to come see it personally so everybody is on same page. This Car has a lot going for it but needs skilled labor to make Roadworthy SAFE. Safety is #1 like changing brakes to a dual system etc. My Ebay and personal reputation is more important to me than ANY cash sale. I live on north side of Rochester, innesota ( Oronoco Township ) Call Me Lenny 507-254-1119 cell. PS I have tracked down new OEM Tailights ( regular and w/backup light lenses) and their new chrome trim, new chrome armrest bases, new driveshaft hanger bearing etc and it all goes with car ( see pic) Plus anything more for 62 I may rediscover in my shop. I can store for up to 10 days ifnecessary and will help any way I can if shipping becomesnecessary. PS interior is not faded, ntense sun washed out my pics. I will redo in the morning
