Before we begin this ad, e would like to address a mystery that has surrounded the 1970 Chevelle SS for years. In 1970, pproximately 51,000 SS 396, PO Z25 Chevelles were manufactured. However, t every car show, ruise, r auctions nationwide, here are hundreds always on display. How can this be? The answer is very simple. They are clones or reproductions! The 1970 Chevelle SS is one of the most counterfeited models in the muscle car hobby. It is also one of the easiest to reproduce. There are absolutely no proprietary numbers, odes, in indicators, tc. exposed or hidden on an SS that definitively prove the authenticity, hat cannot be faked or reproduced. In addition, irtually every SS component is now available from aftermarket suppliers. Building a clone is as easy as ordering parts and assembling the car. So how can the buyers be positive they are purchasing the real deal? Simple- documentation. Original, ock solid documentation, ot reproduced paperwork with a cup of Folger's coffee spilled on it. This is a serious problem in Chevelle circles, nd unfortunately many "Chevelle SS" owners nationwide don't realize they are in the possession of a fake. It has been rumored for years that GM actually has the same documents in the archives as they had for Pontiac, uick, tc. They supposedly are afraid to make this available to the public due to the legal problems that would arise due to the sheer volume of clones already out there. Arrow straight, ll steel body has been refinished in Tuxedo Black. New White vinyl top. White sport stripes. Fit, inish, nd gapping are excellent all the way around. Paint has been buffed to a mirror gloss. All chrome, tainless, nd brightwork in very good condition. Factory Sport Wheels with Performance GT radial tires. Single sport mirror. Beautiful Parchment bucket seat interior. Seats, ushions, nd plasti-chrome trim are in excellent condition. Factory console with stirrup shifter. Carpet, eadliner, ill plates in great shape. The heart of this beauty is the original 402 CU. In. (Still labeled as 396 in Chevrolet literature). All original components in the engine and engine bay, ith the exception of maintenance and repair items. All major engine components have original dates and codes, ith the exception of a new starter. Note: Most Chevelle enthusiasts are familiar with the 67 day strike that paralyzed GM production in 1970. There are many examples of parts that were "pulled off the shelf" to complete cars in this era. This Chevelle is one of them. The painted valve covers have been on this car since it left the factory, n lieu of the chrome valve covers. It has been left that way because it is original. Rochester four barrel carburetor. Turbo 400 automatic transmission mated to a 3.31 Posi-Traction rear differential. Undercarriage is as clean and solid as you will find. New dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Even the original shocks and springs are still in place. Rides down the road just as it should.
