Description of 1947 Chevrolet Other |
This 1947 second series 6400 Loadmaster is all original other than the paint. It has just over 64,000 original miles. I am the second owner of this truck. I bought it in 2008 from the original owner in central Oregon. This truck spent its entire life on a ranch and was only used to haul wheat or cattle to the local mill/stock yard. It was very well cared for.The engine is the original 235 ci and it runs well. The transmission is a 4 speed manual with a two speed rear end. I changed the oil, ilter, oolant, ear differential gear oil, ransmission gear oiland replaced all hoses and belts when I bought it. I recently rebuilt the carbureto, eplaced the valve cover gasket and it has a new 6 volt battery. I also recently replaced the brake master cylinder. The wiring is intact but is the original cloth wring andthe coating is brittle so it will need to be replaced at some point but the running lights and headlights work. The truck is original and there is no rust on any part of the cab, ody or frame. It is as solid as you will find. The original owner painted the truck about a year before I bought it and the paint is in good shape but was not professionally done. The cab is a 5 window custom cab and all glass is in place and in good shape. The door hinges are not worn and the latches work well. It has the original AM radio but it is currently not working. The interior has new covering on the seat when I bought it. The gauges all work. The bed is an original WW II 1945 military deuce and a half body that was bought as surplus after the war. It has the original data plate on it. The body is on a twin ram hydraulic PTO driven hoist and it works well. The wood in the bed is in very good shape. I had the truck registered as an antique and used it in many local parades but the last couple of years have been too busy to use it. It has been stored in a warehouse out of the weather. It would be an excellent truck for someone who loves these older trucks. It needs very little work to be able to drive it more than just parades. It comes with an aftermarket reproduction owners manual and a complete original full Chevrolet shop manual. |
