The closest thing to a sports truck at the time. it packed muscle car horsepower and heavy duty utility into a compact. attractive body that offers great proportions. V8 power. and a great look that remains as popular today as it was when it was new. Finished in bright turquoise. this truck has a bright. cheerful disposition that doesn't come off as trying too hard. Short wheelbase with regular cab and a 6-foot bed is perhaps the most attractive combination on an early pickup. offering a manageable size. relatively light weight. and plenty of utility that makes this an easy purchase to justify. A few custom tricks like the smoothie tailgate. custom rear roll pan. and a few traditional-looking pinstripe details make this one stand out in a pretty crowded field. All the panels line up well. the doors fit properly. and the bed offers a durable spray-on bedliner that brings practicality as well as low-maintenance to the party. There are no goofy graphics or other dated design details. so this is a truck that can be enjoyed as-is or perhaps could serve as a foundation for something special just waiting for you to put your own twist on it. Black and green vinyl replace the original interior. and it helps soften the truck's blue-collar image. It's also a lot more comfortable! The dash has been painted to match the body. as has the tilt steering column. and black carpets help improve noise insulation. giving this truck a more upscale feel than it had when it was new. The big stuff is done. so you can get in and enjoy it immediately and it looks great. The original gauges need a bit of attention. as the speedometer is not hooked up. but a trio of auxiliary gauges have been installed under the dash to monitor the vitals. A factory AM radio is still in the middle of the dash. and that's fine because the engine makes for great entertainment out on the road. but it would also be an easy matter to install the modern stereo system of your choice and start to make this truck your own. It appears that much of the glass and weather seals are new and the B&M shifter on the floor adds a sporting flavor. The rumbling V8 under the hood is a 350 cubic inch Chevy that looks right at home in the C10's cavernous engine bay. Finished in authentic Chevy Orange against satin black inner fenders. it looks comfortingly familiar and runs beautifully. It's not too far removed from stock. so you know it's both reliable and easy to repair. and it sports a late-model serpentine belt system and newer accessories. Long-tube headers feed a pair of Flowmaster mufflers with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle. so the muscle car comparison is certainly valid in terms of the soundtrack and the front end has been rebuilt. The transmission is a durable TH350 3-speed automatic and out back there's a rugged 12-bolt hanging on lowering springs that help give this truck a fantastic stance. The disc brakes were recently serviced and it rides on OEM-style Rally wheels and giant 295/50/15 blackwall radials. Chalk this one up a fantastic vintage truck that'll have no trouble finding a new home.
