Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS Chevelles remain ever popular around Streetside Classics showrooms. and this 1972 hardtop is a good demonstration why. Good looks. V8 power. and very affordable. it's an excellent choice if you like to drive your hardware. Repainted in 2008. this unusual Chevelle wears beautiful urethane in its original code 58 Placer Gold with black SS stripes. so it's both elegant and sporting at the same time. The stripes were added even though this isn't an SS model. but nobody's going to complain after they see how good this car looks. Fit and finish are quite good. with a deep shine that comes from quality work and materials. There's also a subtle black pinstripe running along the flanks and it really highlights the gently curving quarter panels that give the Chevelle its muscular crouch. A power bulge in the hood is a connection to the cowl induction units of yore. but it's far more subtle and works rather well with the gold paint. It's kind of refreshing to see a stock Chevelle grille and simple chrome bumpers. more evidence that this Chevy isn't trying too hard. And for enthusiasts who like the single headlight look. this is one of the more attractive A-bodies we've had in a while. The interior doesn't stray too far from factory specifications. either. still sporting bench seats and a column shifter. The seat covers and carpets have to be new simply because they're in such great shape. but those might just be the original door panels. which are quite well preserved. Obviously an aftermarket Grant GT steering wheel has been added and the black anodized center works really well in the all-black interior. The factory gauges covered only speed and fuel level. so they've been joined by a pair of Auto Meter temperature and oil pressure gauges as well as a tachometer hanging under the dash. It does have factory A/C. which is always a welcome addition to the spec sheet. and the factory radio has been upgraded to an AM/FM/CD head unit with speakers on the rear deck. And unlike so many other affordable collector cars. this one actually has a fully finished trunk with a full-sized spare tire. a critical accessory that's often left off the restorer's "to do" list. A 350 cubic inch V8 makes a great powerplant in a vintage Chevelle and is a big step up from the original 307. Plenty powerful enough to be a lot of fun on the street. but still relatively economical and easy to service. it was fully rebuilt in 2010. This one benefits from an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. a GM performance intake manifold. and MSD ignition system. so it's a strong runner. and it looks great with chrome dress-up parts. A late-model accessory drive system tucks the A/C compressor down low and out of sight. so the top of the engine bay is uncluttered and service access is good. Long-tube headers dump into a reproduction dual exhaust system with a mellow tone that never gets obnoxious and the TH400 3-speed automatic never complains about the power running through it. With 3. 08 gears out back. it's an excellent highway cruiser and the chassis is evidence of a life lived someplace where there's no snow or salt on the pavement. Classic Rally wheels with 235/60/15 white-letter radials fill the wheel wells and complement the sporty look. This Chevelle does a lot of things right and looks great doing them. all at a very reasonable price.
