Description of 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Nomad Station Wagon

Show Winning - Original Restored - 265 V81955 CHEVY BELAIR NOMAD STATION WAGON

This Nomad's body, ody number 8383 of only 8520 built, ike ALL '55 Nomads, as assembled in Cleveland, st1>Ohio and then shipped in primer to its final assembly plant. This Nomad was assembled in Van Nuys, st1>California in August of 1955, he last month of 1955 model production. It was sold new to the Air Force son of a Mr. & Mrs. Evans in arid San Bernadino, st1>California. He gave it to his parents as a gift. For many years it was parked outside of their Mom & Pop Hardware store they owned locally in downtown San Bernadino. After their deaths, he car was passed through the hands of several "car enthusiasts"who started a restoration but lost interest. In 1983, he dismantled but freshly painted car ended up in the able hands of the late George Webster, lso of San Bernadino. George, retired railroad conductor/brakeman re-assembled the car using his wide experience in the restoration hobby (he had restored Model T Fords way back in 1955!). After working almost daily for three years, he car was 90% done.

I bought the car 29 years ago in 1986 and took it to the next level, dding correct details, OS options, e-chroming parts, tc. Since then the car has been featured in several books, ANY Car Shows, onventions and the independent film Deuce Of Spades.

SOME GENERAL INFO ON THE CAR:

Engine: rebuilt original 265 V8, -bbl carburetor, ith accessory oil filter mounted topside of engine. About 20,000 miles since rebuild. Runs like a top!

Exterior & Paint: 90% of car re-chromed or re-cad plated. Painted with Centauri acrylic enamel with hardener (1983) in original colors of Gypsy Red and Shoreline Beige. Well maintained, outhern California garage kept.

New reproduction Ciadella interior in original waffle pattern. NiceHeadliner is original (replacement Headliner kit goes with the car if you should want to change it)

Transmission: rebuilt original two speed cast iron Powerglide automatic transmission.

Features and Accessories: EZI (tinted glass), .70 x 15"Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewall tires, rake warning light, orking Wonderbar Signal Seeking Radio, ay/Night mirror, anity mirror, ual sideview mirrors, hrome exhaust tip extension, oor handle guards, orking clock, rille guard, ccessory bumper end guards, acuum windshield washer (not working), 55 locking gas cap, igarette lighter, asic Heater (rare) and under dash courtesy lights.

Interesting features: Less than 82,000 original miles, ll date codes & numbers match, RIGINAL "12V"headlights (1955 only), oly Top Maintenance Free battery but looks 100% original, eproduction Gene Smith stainless steel grill, OS grill surrounding chrome, rofessionally reworked/rechromed lift gate by Jerry Cabunoc and a stainless exhaust tailpipe.

Original black plate CA car (PYM083). It has lived its entire life in Southern California.

Maisto Diecast Models used this car for creating their 1/18thmodel.

Featured prominently in the following Automotive Books: CHEVY SS The Super Sport Story, b>ORIGINAL CHEVROLET 1955-1956-1957 The Restorer's Guide and AMERICAN CARS OF THE FIFTIES. Winner of many Awards including the 2005 Palos Verdes Concours First Place Tri-Five Chevy. Frequently seen in the past at CCI & Bowtie Chevy Conventions and the Gambler Classic River Run in LaughlinNevada.
