Description of 1970 Chevrolet C-10

1970 Chevy CST/10(Custom Sport Truck / Half-Ton)
This is a cool, ard to find, ery solid truck that is very unique.... It has Chevy 454 Big Block that runs on both gasoline and CNG !! The original owner worked for the local gas company (Mountain Fuel back in the '70's, ow renamed as Questar Gas) and he and several friends added a Natural Gas system to their new trucks long before we started seeing them in production cars. The system works great and with the flip of a switch you can run regular gas if you want. But, ith CNG at appx $1.67 per gallon why pay more than double for gas ??!! I purchased the truck from the original owner's son so I'm technically the third owner. The truck originally had a 396 (L47) but the son told me his dad wanted the 454 BBC and swapped the engine in the mid-1970's. He thinks the engine came out of a Chevelle, ut I have no way to confirm that. The engine runs very strong with no issues except for the expected few drips of oil. The previous owner and his son ran the truck primarily on CNG which, s you know, urns amazingly clean. I was told by my mechanic that if the heads were to be pulled the guts of this engine would be clean as new.
----If you decide to pull the CNG system and the tanks it's quite simple. A local shop quoted me $250 if I were to have them do it. The two tanks are mounted and located in the front of the bed under the diamond plate cover.---
That aside, his is a very sold CST/10. If you know these trucks you know their investment value. The pictures show that it is a good, lean, onest truck. Nothing to hide. The rockers are very solid as are the floor pans. Two of the pictures show the carpet pulled back to show there's NO rot in the usual floor pan places. The driver's side cab corner is rock solid whereas the left side cab corner has a very small amount of rust. I resprayed (rattle can) the lower white portion of the truck more for preservation than restoration. I thought I may be driving the truck through the winter and wanted to add some protection. There is no body filler on this truck. All body panels and sheetmetal appear to be original to the truck. Both doors are solid with very little surface rust on the inner bottom with NO rot or holes. The truck has been garaged and well cared for since new and it shows. The bed is in great shape as well and the two metal wheel chucks mounted in the bed were for securing dirt bikes. They can be easily removed as they are just bolted in.
The paint is starting to show a cool patina. I recently hand waxed it and it brightened up nicely. The truck is still wearing it's original optioned color... White and Hugger Orange and White (Option code 596). The driprail is also solid with no rot.
This is the Custom Sport Truck model (CST), ption code Z84. The transmission (M49 Turbo Hydra-Matic) shifts smoothly in all gears as it should and has the Rear Posi-Trac Axle (G80). MSD ignition was also added by the original owner and starts right up. The truck came with Factory A/C and Power Steering.
I have thourougly enjoyed driving this truck, ut I've got to move some of my toys along. I'm building a new garage and addition to my home and need the space and money for that. The truck is currently registered and driven several times a week. It does need complete new exhaust. I was going to have it done before selling but I know that many of us have our own ideas and opinions on how we want the exhaust... which headers, ufflers, -pipe or straight pipe, tc... So, 'm leaving that to the next lucky owner. Odometer reads 20,590 but it's probably 120,590. The truck spent most of it's life as the original owner's local commuter.
Overall, his is a highly sought after year and model that has potential to be whatever you want it to be. It can be driven and enjoyed as is or with a little work it would make a killer Hot Rod, hop Truck, r even a show truck. You'll be hard pressed to find a better foundation to build on or enjoy as is.
Please ask all questions before bidding. I'm happy to send more pictures to serious bidders of areas you'd like to see that aren't shown. Please have money in place before bidding. It goes without saying that as solid as the truck is it is 45 years old and is being sold as is with no warranties or guaranties expressed or implied. Shipping is the responsiblity of the buyer, ut I'm happy to help on my end to make sure things go smoothly with your shipper. I'm also happy to talk with interested buyers on the phone. Simply email me your contact info and I can give you a call. Reserve is set very fair for what it is. I'm motivated to sell, ut not desperate by any means.
Thanks and good luck !!

RESERVE IS SET FAR BELOW WHAT THE NADA "LOW RETAIL" VALUE IS .(I didn't factor in the optional big block 454 into the value since it is not original to the truck. However, think it was a smart upgrade by the original owner. This truck will be a great buy and investment to the new owner.)NADAguides Price Report9/16/20151970 Chevrolet C10
