Description of 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle

For inexpensive V8 fun, his 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle 2-door represents a cool alternative to the usual suspects. You probably haven't seen many like this, nd with a great-running small block V8, icely upgraded interior, nd a distinct lack of excess flash, t's a very cool cruiser that will get attention merely by being so tastefully done.It was repainted some years ago in its original code 936 Ermine White, hich actually works rather well on the chiseled Chevelle bodywork. It stands proudly next to the Impalas with its more advanced and updated design and the smaller size gives it a more sporting demeanor that the Impala lacks, hich is a big plus in our book. It's muscular. Finish quality is decent, ith a few touch ups and a few signs of use, nd you'll never be afraid of showing it at local events. Better yet, eople will be giving you appreciative thumbs-up gestures everywhere you go in this car and guys at shows will come up and remark that they've never seen this body style before. It's also thankfully saved from being yet another fake SS, hich gives it an honest look that works quite well. The bumpers are new, he chrome trim and stainless window moldings are in great shape, nd both doors shut easily, uggesting a car that's led an easy life. The rest of the stuff is a nice combination of original and replacement pieces that work well together, ith nothing standing out as either too fresh or too old.The interior has been given a fairly comprehensive makeover, tarting with a pair of late-model bucket seats up front. The original console is still in the middle, aking this an interesting car from an options standpoint, nd you'll find it's easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. That wheel is a later Chevy piece that should look familiar and the factory gauges have cool stainless faces that are the epitome of early '60s cool. A trio of auxiliary gauges hang under the dash and the shifter is a cool Hurst "his-n-hers" setup that makes this car a lot of fun to drive. There's an AM/FM radio in the dash, o you're not stuck listening to whatever's still playing on AM and the handsome back seat has plenty of room for a few friends. The trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and full-sized spare, nd you'll note that the floors are pretty danged clean, oo.Borrowed from an early '80s Monte Carlo, he 305 cubic inch V8 under the hood is a nice upgrade from the original 283, ffering more power and torque to make this coupe a bit more entertaining. Topped by a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb and fired by an HEI ignition system, t's smooth and powerful, et easy and inexpensive to maintain. The engine bay is quite tidy, ith clean inner fenders and lots of new parts, ncluding the power brake booster and master cylinder, lternator, nd chrome valve covers. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear end, nd one glance underneath will demonstrate that even entry-level cars don't need to be rough. There's a recent dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers, lus a new gas tank, o you can hit the road without worries. And classic Rally wheels are always the right choice, ith these wrapped in 205/70/15 blackwall radials.A cool cruiser that's priced right and offers an impressive level of preservation and performance for the dollar.
