Description of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 NOMAD |
Great LakesClassic Cars proudly presents 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad Power Pac and Air Conditioned It doesn't get any better than owning one of the most recognizable and Iconic examples of American Automotive History. The 1957 Chevrolet Nomad exemplifies all that was self indulging and combined the utilitarian purposefulnessof the great 1950s decade. Tri-Fives of all variations have always been popular, ut the Nomad has almost an Unicorn aura about it. Some would say it's due to styling, ig sharp fins of '57 or that infamous jeweled front grille with lots of sparkle and chrome. Those of us fortunate enough to haveexperienced growing up thenwould say it's because it sparks great memories of simpler and innocent times with friends and family. Others would argue that it was what being American was all about, hings were good, here were now 2 vehicles per households, Vs were abundant, nd families traveled together in vehicles such as this. The story with this Nomad is simple yet intriguing and definitely well regarded,,, ossibly because I am partial to it and its previous owner's history. I believe in vehicles having character and even personalities; Even if mass produced by the millions, he moment that vehicle leaves it's place of origin it has taken a path shared by some and different than most as is the rest of its life. They eventually become ONE of ONE. People are categorized as unique individuals with experienceof independent life events and so are cars. This Nomad was acquired as an already restored, elieved to be original mile beauty by the previous owner during an important milestone of his life. My friend, he previous owner of this Nomad is a very passionate, nteligent, nd well rounded automotive enthusiast and collector. I said enthusiast first because he has owned some of the greatest vehicles we've come to know andday dream about. Obviously including thisNomad. In 2006 he decided to sell his Shelby Cobra,,, et me elaborate, e decided to offer up at auction hisREAL Shelby Cobra 'Dragonsnake' which he had owned for many years and used to drive it as an almost daily driver throughthe 60's into the 70's. This car was tobreak and set new recordsat auction for value and sparkeda new beginning in non street machine or typical muscle car auction activity. As his beloved old Cobra crossesthe block with the hammer dropping at over $1.6M he was filled with joy and left with a hole at the same time. That hole in his automotive line up didn't last long as this Nomad was inching up on the pad forauction late in the day. As we all know, ypicallywhen the party winds downand people begin to leave is when opportunities present themselves. This Nomad was then responsible for another record being broken at that auction; Who would have thought that my friend would Break a selling record for the Cobra and then get the record for "The Auction's Best Buy" out of all the days on this Nomad. What an amazing day he had! Now here is where the Nomad's story gets even better; For the past nine years this car shared its room with other unforgettable greats such as his original Trans Am with barely 2k miles owned since new, is Boss 302 all original and also owned since new, beautiful Buick Convertible worthy of making 'Rain Man' rant about driving it, nd a fewother special cars worthy of their own respected story. The Nomad wasnever put on the road and keptaway from theelements and public eyeagain for years. This bit of imformation is important because it portrays the most recent background roots of this beautyand its owner. Notabused, ellcared for, nd maintained in investment grade quality. We acquired it a few months ago and went through it to ensure driveability and gave it some shine. I personally drove it for a weekend with the family and visited our favorite breakfast and burger place getting plenty of thumbs up and interest. This is an incredible vehicle that deserves its place in the spotlight as a piece of Americana that is as collectible and investibleas gold bars butmore fun to own. Beautiful India Ivory over Tropical Turquoiseis as sought after as the vehicle itself. Air Conditioning is a rare and even more so a must have for rarity options incleasing collector's valuation and vehicle worth. Power-Pac is another must have option when it comes to these Chevys. All in all you are looking and have read it this far because you too are a fan to some degree of these Nomads. We pride ourselves in bringing you quality vehicles and offering them at realistic prices. This Nomad is no exception! It is priced below what you would pay at a televised auction event and we hope you continue to appreciate the hobby and well as your net worth with these beautiful vehicles. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. 1957 Chevrolet NomadThe ’57 Chevy is one of the most recognized icons in the Automotive industry. Stylish and Sporty the there’s no doubt that it’s one of America’s best and most loved cars. The 1957 Chevrolet a few different trim levels; the base-model "150" series, he mid-range "210" series, nd the upscale Bel Air series. An upscale trim option called the "Del Ray" was also available for 210 2-door sedans, nd there was a limited production two-door station wagon called the "Nomad" and also even scarcer was the "El Morocco", custom hand-built series that mimicked the Cadillac. Under the hood Chevrolet had achieved an engineering milestone, d Cole worked magic developing Chevy’s small-block V8 engine. The original edition was enlarged to 283 cu, ith several optional power packages available, ushing it up to 283 hp. The Super Turbo-Fire 283, $550 option, roduced the advertised 283 horsepower with the help of Ramjet continuous-flow fuel injection. On the outside the Bel Air was distinguished with more chrome and featured a golden grille set off with a heavy chrome bar that included parking lights. The rear fins were capped with chrome moldings and highlighted with anodized aluminum side trim panels. The fuel-filler door was concealed in the left rear chrome fin trim, small but convenient detail that helped clean up exterior lines.
