Offered in trim levels ranging from stripped economy champ to luxury pavement pounder, hevrolet produced Chevelles capable of satisfying the needs of nearly every buyer and every wallet. That legacy of universal appeal has continued throughout the last forty years, iving fans and aficionados the parts and inspiration to create their own unique hot rods. Take this fully restored Super Sport for example. Decked in classic red and black aesthetics, ooked to a tough automatic transmission and fitted with 396 cubic inches of Chevrolet big block, his tasteful coupe turns a traditionally appealing platform into an off-the-charts super star. If you're ready to hit the streets in a head-turning muscle car that's built to take on anything, ave a closer look at this stunning Chevy! BODYWORK/TRIM When this A-body left GM's Kansas City assembly plant in October of 1970, t looked much as it does today. The exterior of the car was bathed in code 75 Cranberry Red single-stage. A Black cloth interior was outfitted with standard bench seats. And the factory even threw in a tight vinyl roof for good measure. During a recent, round-up restoration, hat original paint was stripped and replaced by a vivid coat of Bright Red 2-stage. That well-worn cockpit was traded for fresh audio equipment and sporty bucket seats. And traditional Super Sport stripes were substituted for the aforementioned roof. Today, riving fine and looking slick, his top dog Chevy rolls as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's detailed to better-than-new standards! Many enthusiasts view early '70s Chevelles as the pinnacle of both muscle car and classic Chevy design. At the front of this red-hot barnburner, painted grille hangs a fresh and prominent "SS" emblem between a small "CHEVELLE" script, tainless-trimmed H4 headlights and a guarded bumper. Opposite that bumper, pinned cowl induction hood anchors rebuilt hide-a-way wipers at the base of tinted glass that's seated in pristine stainless frames. At the base of that stainless, hite inlayed "SS396" badges combine with straight wheel trim, hrome door handles and polished mirrors to add visual detail to the car's liquid-smooth profile. And at the back of that profile, second chrome bumper hangs a bold "SS" emblem between clear brake lights, fresh "Chevelle by Chevrolet" trunk script and spotless exhaust tips. ENGINE Gaze in to the car's glossy engine bay and you'll find a 396 cubic inch, ra-correct big block that's been fully rebuilt and thoughtfully detailed! At the top of the body-matched mill, polished, pen-element air filter feeds a coated Holley 4-barrel, hich is threaded onto polished stainless fluid lines and a coated mechanical pump. That air/fuel mixture floods a coated intake on the way to beefy Chevrolet heads, hich are capped with polished valve covers and a traditional Edelbrock breather. At the back of those heads, n MSD Pro-Billet distributor sequences spark between an MSD Blaster SS coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Below those wires, right Hooker Competition headers funnel spent gases in to a large-diameter, rue-dual exhaust system. At the front of those headers, illet pulleys spin a coated Edelbrock water pump between a polished alternator, polished AC compressor and a polished timing chain cover. In front of those pulleys, chrome-topped radiator circulates coolant around a big fan via pliable GM hoses and old school tower clamps. And the car's authentic, ot rod appearance is maintained through a roster of high quality ancillaries that includes: Harrison AC components, rebuilt Delco Moraine brake booster and a sly Delco battery topper. DRVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Beneath this Chevy, clean undercarriage tells the story of sparse weekend miles and plenty of dry storage. Rock-solid floorpans are coated in smooth Satin Black paint, etting the perfect backdrop for a roster of high quality parts. Behind the immaculate big block, proven Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed jerks a familiar 12-bolt axle, hich spins a posi-traction differential around big, .73 gears. That excellent drivetrain floats in a fully restored F41 Sports Suspension, hich follows a rugged Saginaw steering box with high quality air shocks. Speaking of steering, actory power assist maximizes the driver's input. Naturally, ower-assisted discs and drums handle braking. Spent gases race from the aforementioned headers in to large-diameter, eramic-coated pipes, hich hang an H-shaped crossover in front of rowdy Flowmaster mufflers. And power flows to the pavement through polished American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, hich spin 255/50R17 Fuzion ZRis. INTERIOR With a host of fresh interior components, his coupe's crisp cockpit is both inviting and unique. Its slick bucket and bench seat combo is firm to the touch, howing no signs of significant wear. In front of those seats, straight Super Sport dash hangs standard gauges above a remote controlled, P3-compatible stereo that commands large Classic Car Audio deck speakers. Below that dash, stainless-trimmed console anchors a traditional horseshoe shifter on clean black carpet and color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, ick-free door panels center classy stainless trim and requisite "SS" emblems on bright handles and pliable armrests. In front of the driver, familiar Chevrolet Rally Wheel laps a tilting steering column. And behind the passengers, fully restored trunk features a correct jack and full-size spare tire. With its incredible motor, ust-worthy body and fully sorted chassis, his Chevelle is the very definition of muscle car. Its lights-out build, hich combines stunning design with excellent performance, epresents first class showmanship at its very finest. If you're in the market for a top-notch classic that can win trophies and literally own the street, his Chevy is your kind of car! |
