Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro |
1968 Camaro Z28 PRO STREET / STRIP Drag This Camaro is a great start to a very nice car, t is mechanically sound and hauls A**. I believe it may be a real Z28 although the whole drivetrain is not numbers matching equipment it does have the hole in the cowl above the heater that would be for the original cowl air cleaner that came with these cars new and the glove box lid tire pressure decal states for 15 inch wheels which was Z28 and some SS. It was a factory stick car, omeone cut the clutch pedal arm off and they patched the floor hole. It was built to be a street legal drag car and has a 355 small block with a large solid camshaft and Dart Iron heads, 50 Dbl pumper, t has MSD ignition including a 6AL and big tube headers with the exhaust dumping at the rear end it shakes the ground. It has an electric fan and does not overheat. Trans is a T350 with beefed up internals and a large stall converter Rear is a tight 4:11 posi with drum brakes Front end was rebuilt at some point and has replaced "factory style"Disk brakes and a Corvette M/C. The fuel system includes a fuel cell in the truck next to the relocated battery, t has an electric fuel pump also and I believe it is ½" system. I got this car in a package deal recently and I don't know a great deal about the engine internals ie: what cam how much compression etc. I have had drag cars in the past and to me it pulls like a high 11 second car and does a hell of a burnout. Body: I see minor rust in the fenders (just starting to show) door look clean and the quarters have been replaced at some point so there is no rust there. It does need to be stripped because this paint is failing, t is fine for a strip car but is driver quality at best, here is a spoiler on the back that I think is an OE style that someone filled in so it wouldn't take much to remove it. It has a steel cowl hood that looks like a GM. Floors are solid. Interior: has been redone at some point and needs it again, he door panel lower halves have been recovered and it looks ok but the seat covers are shot and so is the carpet. There are a few small tears in the headliner. Wheel are Centerline Convo Pros and it needs new rear tires J Since I know the power and quality of the power plant I would entertain selling the car less engine / trans and can work out a value of them with you and I can pull but if you are not local the shipping will be much higher if it doesn't run/drive.
