Built to be driven. this 1973 Chevy pickup has just the right patina. stance. and rumbly exhaust note. To start with. I located a mostly untouched original '73 Chevy pickup that a local Louisiana farmer bought new. I purchased it and wanted a truck that I could drive anywhere. yet still haul lumber from Home Depot in the bed and not worry about scratching it. A brand new GM Peformance crate engine was purchased from the Chevy dealership. To top off the engine. the following parts were added: (all carefully assembled and torqued to GM specifications -Isky camshaft and lifters -Promax aluminum heads with screw in rocker studs. upgraded valve springs for the cam. ARP head bolts (valves are 2. 02 and 1. 60 for plenty of breathing) -Chromolly Ultra Pro Magnum roller rocker arms from Comp -hardened thick wall pushrods -MSD Pro billet distributor and Blaster coil -Edelbrock Air Gap intake with polished ports. installed with ARP bolts -Edelbrock 600CFM carb -ceramic coated Tri-Y headers built to order from Stan's headers (made to clear the clutch linkage) The transmission is a Borg Warner World Class T5 manual 5 speed with: -McLeod Clutch -Hays throwout bearing -upgraded with Camaro input shaft for use with McLeod large diamter clutch disc -Hurst short throw shifter assembly with adjustable stops -new aluminum clutch linkage rods with heim jointsA custom transmission crossmember was fabricated and an all new driveshaft was built and balanced by a driveshaft shop (Ruston Machine)The transmission swap is all custom stuff with a lot of thought put into it. There isn't a simple "kit" to buy and put this together. which is probably why you rarely find a package like this. But. it was important to me to have a 5 speed and it makes for a unique set up. All of the brakes have been gone through. with new rotors. calipers. bearings. hoses. etc. It has manual steering and brakes. The fuel tank was flushed and reinstalled with new pickup and lines. The stance was achieved by way of Belltech suspension (dropped spindles. dropped springs. and an axle flip kit in the rear. Thanks to Belltech's engineered components. this truck rides and feels great. At 75MPH the truck tracks straight and has NO "bumpsteer" as some lowered vehicles do. It has new American Racing 15" torq thrusts with the pointed spokes just like "back in the day" for an authentic '70s feel which really completes the look. The rear bumper is a new "Premium" chrome one to match the original front. Since being completed this summer. I have driven this truck across the country putting aprrox. 6. 00 miles on it and have never had problems or worried about getting somewhere# It's proven to be a pretty reliable old truck and I would not hesitate to drive it to California. or wherever I had a desire or need to go. I'm selling this truck to fund a hot rod project. I have no desire to get rid of the truck. it's simply a means to raise capital for another interest. This is 1973!. the desirable 1st year of the body style! It would be perfect for a hot rod shop to use a parts runner and "shop truck" or for a motorcylce/chopper builder. or just for an individual to drive and enjoy. and make Home Depot runs with it on the weekend. Either way. it's a fun truck that's also pretty useful! Take into consideration how hard it is to locate an original SHORT bed. 1st year bodystyle. that hasn't been butchered. and the cost to buy it to begin with. Then add the group of parts and cost to have the custom work done. And it becomes clear you are getting "a lot of truck" for the money. I intended to add a GPS speedometer and didn't get it done. It needs gauges. but it hasn't really bothered me (My GPS displays speed) Oil pressure is good and it doesn't overheat. See the VIDEO below to hear it running! Serious potential buyers should contact me with any questions before bidding. I've described the truck to the best of my ability and encourage you to come peronally inspect the truck before bidding. It is Sold As-Is. No Warranty. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of end of auction to discuss pickup and payment. Payment will be accepted by CASH IN PERSON ONLY# Full payment is due within 5 days of end of auction#
