Description of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 |
What a cool old car. This one came in from a local Colorado man that is in his 80's. The man is a veteran that served during Vietnam and Korea. That being said I am selling the car on his behalf. The car was restored in the early 1990's. It is showing some wear. The car has been garaged since the restoration but keep in mind that the restoration is over 20 years old and the car has been driven. primarily to the coffee shop and an occasional parade. The reason the car is being sold is to pay for some expenses that our client ran into. he needs a new roof on his house and a new boiler. he did not want to part with it but here it is. He has not been able to drive since 2004 so the car has been sitting for a decade. I replaced the battery and turned the motor over by hand before trying to restart the car. I also replaced the coolant. The car did start. I did siphon the old gas out of the tank but I did not drop it and there is still a bit of an old gas smell when the car is running. The car does run. but it does run a bit rough. it could use a tune up. The car has a 350 CI v8 (not original to the car) and an automatic transmission I do believe that it has the turbo 350 transmission but I may be mistaken. The car has been converted to a Ford 9' rear and power brakes. The front has had the disc brake conversion done to it. This would make a really cool driver or a nice restoration candidate. The car looks to be really solid. I did not see any signs of cancer. The floors look great. the chassis is in great shape. there is a bit of mud here and there but it has been driven. There is some wear to the paint. please look over the pictures. The biggest areas of concern are the tops of the front fenders especially the passenger side have paint chips. There is paint damage to the passenger side of the hood seem. Also there is paint damage along the edge of the trunk lid. again mostly on the passenger side. The areas have been photographed please take your time and check out the pictures. The interior is in really nice shape especially for its age. There is a spot on the passenger side sear on the trim to the rear of the seat. please look for it in the pictures. Other then that the arm rests are not perfect the drivers side one is missing a screw. The carpet is in great shape and so is the headliner. There are no rips or snags on the seats themselves. The dash looks great. The trim around the steering column is sagging on one side were the tachometer was mounted. The steering wheel is not original to the vehicle. The power windows all work. the right side front is a bit slow but it goes up and down in its own time. The rear bumper is not aligned perfectly. maybe out of adjustment. the seems are close but they could use some tweaking. the wheels and tires are in great shape. All in all this is a really neat old car and the Money goes to a great old man who needs some help.
