Hello, ere we have a 1981 Chevy Impala 9C1 retired police car. Ex-City of Hays, ansas unit. I took this in on trade, nd while it is a fun car to drive and gets more looks than my 1993 Mustang Cobra, need to free up some space before winter gets here, o its gotta go. In the several months I have owned it, have put less than a thousand miles on it, ut will tell you all I know about the car.First off, he 5-digit odometer shows 69,413, nd its a safe bet that it has rolled over at least once. Its equipped with the 350-4V V8, hich according to Wikipedia and a GM police vehicles brochure, as onlyavailablein the 9C1 Impala. The biggest motor us civilians got was the 305. It starts easily and has plenty of power, ut runs rich with a slight haze at cold idle and will smoke black under hardacceleration. The 3-speed automatic shifts nice and firm, ot issues there. Other than running rich, he only other mechanical issue it has is a leak from the power steering gearbox. It drips just enough to require topping off about once a week. AC is inop, ut the heat works great. Radio is MIA.The car handles, urns, nd stops great. It has 4 newer matched Primewell brand tires. It is missing one hubcap. Full-size spare is in the trunk. Lights, linkers and horn all work. The spotlights and emergency lights mounted on the parcel shelf are unhooked. Rear window defroster still works! Tilt column is tight. The interior is remarkably clean, ith no rips, ears or holes on the seats. Drivers seat track is broken, nd while it stays in place, t does not want to adjust. I'm 6'1" and it fit me fine, o I never bothered to investigate further. All the gauges work, ncluding the police-spec speedo and the rare 3-gauge pod to the right of the column. Dash has some cracks, ut its all there. Worst part of the interior is the headliner, ou know the story, ts coming down in the back of the car, ut not down enough yet to warrant the thumb-tack treatment. All 4 power windows work, ut sometimes the drivers door window 'quits', nd you have to slap the door while holding the switch, nd it will go back to working, ut all 4 regulators are a-ok.It was repainted at some point, namateurjob, ut still presentable. When you get close you can see imperfections, icks, eftover adhesive from masking tape, nd chipping on the bumper fillers. It was hit in the rear when I got it; all I did was replace the rear bumper with a clean used unit. You can see in the pics where the rear bumper filler was cracked in multiple places. It also appears the the rust in the rear quarters was painted over as well. I took pics of both quarter areas, o please look closely. It comes with a factory Chevrolet service manual, wners manual and paperwork, ut no police logs (darn!)The Impala isavailablefor viewing in KC with reasonable notice, ight off 435 by the Worlds Of Fun theme park. Please look at the pics closely, hat you see is you get. This is not a show car (not even close), ut a fun car that would make a great fixer-upper project, r drive and enjoy just as it is. I have described it to the best of my ability, ut this is a 34-year old ex-police car, o for both our sakes, lease don't expect to fly in and drive it 500 miles. I will be happy to assist you or the shipper of your choice, owever. Questions? Ask away, will reply in as timely manner as possible. And now the fine print... This car is sold as-is where-is, ith no warranties expressed or implied. I do not need help selling. Not looking for any trades.
