Description of 1963 Chevrolet Impala |
This is a 1963 Chevrolet Impala project car. I picked it up with the intent to build it but I have to many other projects to complete this winter. I am providing as complete a description I can. If you have questions please contact me. As far as I can see the previous owner started a complete frame off restoration. The frame appears to be sand blasted and painted. there are new body mounts. They replaced some of the suspension bushings but not everything. The trunk floor. quarters and floors all appear to have been repaired and replaced. I can not see any exposed rust on the car except the trunk rail where the weatherstripping goes there is about a two foot area where it is rusted. What you see in the pictures is what I have for the car. It was an original 283 /3 speed on the tree car. The engine appears to be completely rebuilt. bored. honed. new pistons. heads are redone. new seals. etc. New cam. timing chain. billet distributor and quadrajet. Lots of chrome comes with it. There is no transmission. clutch or bellhousing but the clutch linkage is there as far as I can tell. Body is very solid. Looks like you could do a quick sanding and paint it. Hood is a new reproduction. quarters have been replaced. Doors and fenders are solid. There is no trunk lid. I believe all the trim is there but its tough to tell without trying to put it all on. Bumpers are below driver grade but usable. All glass is intact. Dash is intact. The interior has the rear bench seat. rear arm rests and panels and the bottom of the front bench seat redone in a reproduction. The back of the front bench is missing. You can see all these in the pictures. When I picked it up the car was being temporarily stored in a garage that was damp so there is some mildew on the underside but it wipes right off. The floors and underside are all detailed and painted. |
