I bought this Spartan on eBay in the summer of 2006. It was a pumper truck from a small fire station in the mid west and when I got it it had only 7,680 miles on it. With the help of a very good welder/mechanic we removed the pump and tank and built the dump body. We built it to transport lumber and cars. It is very heavy duty with a 3" thick white oak deck and a heavy steel main frame. The hoist has power up and power down so you can lift things with the tail end of the truck. The hydraulic control lever is in the rear so you can easily adjust the load angle when loading a vehicle and it has a 12K Ramsey winch with a cordless remote. This set up has worked very well for me. I have driven 30,000 miles around New England and it has provided me with excellent service. I have had the truck regularly serviced and this spring the brakes were completely gone through. It has a nice solid pedal and it stops great. The brakes squeak sometimes and I do not know why because there is lots of meat on the shoes. The power steering is wonderful, ll the gages work, t has 2 speed ELECTRIC wipers and a 3 speed heater blower. The Heater core is currently disconnected because it developed a leak this spring. Prior to that the heat worked great. There is a crack in the drivers side exhaust manifold so you get a little back firing on the down grade. The PTO cable is stiff and should be replaced. Although the truck runs good, s fully functional and is currently on the road, t is in need of body work. The front fenders are in bad shape and the bottoms of the doors are also starting to go. I have a set of used fenders that go with the sale. They are sand blasted and will need a little sheet metal work but are over all in very good shape. I have tried to show all the rust in the photos but if there is a angle I missed that you would like to see let me know. The tires are all in good shape. The bed is 15'6" long and 8'3" wide. The head board is 8'5" tall. The GVW is 22,000 and the tare is about 10,500. It comes with the original owners manual and a shop manual. I was going to put a 4 barrel carb on it but only got as far as getting a nice air cleaner which goes with the sale. I live on the island of Martha's Vineyard but I would be happy to bring the truck over to the Woods Hole Steamship terminal in Falmouth. The boat ticket will cost you $114. I might be able to deliver the truck. It would depend on the timing and the distance. I am happy to answer any questions and can be reached at home between 8am and 9pm eastern standard time. Drop me a note and I will send my number. Thanks for looking, est wishes. Trevor
