Description of 1970 Chevrolet Camaro |
Up for bid is my 1970 Camaro (NOT a Z-28 or Rally Sport). I bought it out of a garage in L.A. where it had been sitting for YEARS waiting for restoration. I bought it with the plans of bringing it back to life.. buttime has become pretty scarce. You know what they say- you either have money or time to spend on old cars, ever both. 1970 saw the introduction of the all new Second Generation Camaro. Due to production delays the 1970 Camaro was introduced in February 1970, alf way into the production year. Because of this, ome people will call the 1970 Camaro a 1970 1/2, ut officially the car is a 1970 model year Camaro. While 1970 is the 1st year of the Second Generation Camaro, t is also seen as the last of the high compression, olid-lifter cam, ow-geared ground pounding muscle cars. While the 1970 Camaro was being introduced, he muscle car market was disappearing, r at least changing. Among the other highlights & distinguishing features for 1970 were:
THIS Camaro came originally equipped with a L-65 350 / 2-bbl engine, H350 transmission, span>and what appears to be the original 3.36:1 open (NOT Posi) rear end. The car currently has a rebuilt 350 / 4bbl, ut I have what I believe to be the original #'s matching engine in a crate. The motor was replaced because it was "getting tired", ot because it blew up. The previous owner told me the transmission is the original one to the car, nd that it has been rebuilt. The engine and ALL EXTRA PARTS are included in this auction. Extra parts include: NOS 1970 Camaro Grille, OS Headlight trim rings, OS Rocker Trim, sed black 1970-specific seats (with separate headrests), 0% of a black interior (headliner NIB, nterior plastics, ecent door panels that are used, ut nice), pare center console, pper and lower front valences, riginal 2bbl carb, riginal points distributor, ront end rebuild parts (inner/outer tie rods, djusting sleeves, oil springs, tc), nd MUCH MUCH more. See the pics. I haven't inventoried everything yet.. but thereare almost 2 pickup truck loads of extra parts. Some of the items I have doubles, riples, r even 4 of! The body is very straight, nd the floors/trunk/undercarriage are in REAL nice shape. See pics for more details. The car was originally dark green with a green interior, nd came with A/C. The A/C is all there and hooked up, he compressor spins free, ut there is a leak in the system (it will not hold a charge). The dash controls work, nd the fan blows. All lights/switches and the horn work. The Camaro currently runs, rives, tops and steers fine. The steering has some play, ut all replacement parts are included. It accelerates well, hifts crisp, nd stops fine. I've driven it to a couple of cruises with no issues. The currently installed engine is a 350 with an Edelbrock intake, EI, nd a Holley 4-bbl carb. It has ceramic coated headers, nd a dual exhaust to a crossflow muffler (custom muffler built by previous owner). It sounds like a muscle car should! I replaced the original 4-core radiator with a newer 2-core aluminum unit, nd the car stays nice and cool, ven in traffic. The original radiator is boxed up (and included), t just needs a minor repair to the fill tube. I bought the car to have some fun with (cool weekend cruiser / occasional track (autocross) car) but my work schedule has me traveling over 50%.. . As a result, he car has been sitting for months. I figured I'd see if someone else is interested in a real easy restoration (most the parts are there! It runs and drives!), nd give this car the love it deserves. On Oct-31-15 at 17:32:26 PDT, eller added the following information: Trim Tag reads: To answer a pretty common question: Yes - I can hold the car for up to 30 days for high bidder to arrange transportation. Car must be paid in full as per description. |
