Description of 1978 Chevrolet El Camino SS

We were selling a 64 Ford Galaxy and the buyer asked if we would take his El Camino as partial payment. We are not car dealers, ut the El Camino looked cool and seemed to run good, o we decided to do it. We have had it for a couple years and had a lot of fun with it. But now it is time to sell it and put the money into another project. It is a great truck and runs like a champ. Goes down the road straight and true. We have done a lot to the car over the last 2 years to assure it is in very good running condition. Please read the details below and don't be afraid to ask question.
Suspension:The front end was pretty loose when we got it, owe completely went through the suspension including bushings, all joints, ie rod ends, n alignment and brakes. Basically if it needed attention, e had it fixed.
Engine:The engine is a 383 Stroker ZZ4 Crate motor. It wasn't running like it was supposed to and it had an oil leak. So we invested a few more $$ as the story goes. We had the engine pulled, ore done. Once inside, e could see there were virtually no miles on this engine. So we cleaned everything up, ut a set of quality gasket on it and tossed the stamped cheap valve covers and replaced them with some nice aluminum ones. The running issue was basically the carb, o we tossed that too and installed a New Edelbrock. We set the timing correctly and now it purse a kitten at idle and roars like lion when you put your foot into it. Now this car sounds awesome, oesn't leak anymore and drives like it was meant to. We are not much for fast cars, ut this machine will rock and roll if you know what I mean. It also has an aftermarket floor shifter installed too. Great Sounding Exhaust system as well.
Wheels and Tires:
It has American Racing Rims on it with 235/65R/16 tires in the rear (70% tread). The fronts tires are 225/50R/16 (60% tread)
Body:I am an old bodyman, o I am pretty picky, ut I will say the car looks awesome with its two tone base - clear finish. I did notice when it was on the hoist that a little detail work could have been done better on the bottom. It is very clean and no rust issues, ut just not fully detailed. I posted underside photos and you can make your own assessment, ut I didn't see anything that was alarming to me. As you can see, t is very clean. Not the usual rusty vehicles you see in this part of the country. It has a very nice finish on it with a Cowl Induction Hood. The bottom of the doors have had the seams filled and smoothed showing someone was putting in a little extra effort to make this car look nice. Again, he car is very clean as far as rust and much cleaner than the vehicles usually found in the Midwest.
There are 4 stickers on the outside of the car and I wanted to take them off, ut decided not to. On top of both doors forward section there is a "Harley Davidson" sticker and I actually like the way they look. On the bottom of both fenders there is a "One Nation Under God" sticker too. Of course if you don't like them, ou can take them off once you have the car.
Interior:
It has a really nice interior. Check the photos and you will see that the seats, ash and door panels are really nice. Full instrumentation with custom gauges and a really nice floor shifter. Due to the custom gauges, he true mileage is unknown, ut with the Crate Engine, t is pretty much like starting over. We listed it at 1,000 miles, ut really feel the engine probably has less than 500 on it. It was like new when we opened it up. No wear, o metal or metal shavings in the pan. Just a super clean engine that needed a quality gasket set.
Couple items to disclose:The speedometer is about 18mph off. I believe this is due to the custom gauges and just needs to be calibrated, ut that is one thing I haven't looked into yet.
The rear differential has a small spot of wetness, othing that is hitting the ground, o I don't think it is anything to worry about. If it was, e would have fixed it. Again, am pretty picky, o want to disclose all I am aware of.
Most used vehicles you buy have a list of items that need attention. At this time, here really isn't anything you need to do to this truck except have some fun with it. It's a really nice ride with lots of good, uality work done to it.
All funds must clear my bank before the vehicle is picked up. You will find me easy to work with and I will help you make this a smooth easy transaction. Thanks for looking, ike I said please ask any questions and I will answer the best I can. Happy Bidding Folks. You will enjoy this truck!!!
