Description of 1987 Chevrolet K10 Silverado |
If you grew up at a certain time, ou remember trucks like this 1987 Chevrolet K-10 Silverado pickup everywhere. What you don't remember is any that were this nice, nd someone has spent a ton of time and money on this handsome truck to make it one of the very nicest 4x4s we've ever seen.Recently repainted in its original two-tone gray and silver combination, t's a lot more contemporary-looking than many of its siblings. Finish quality is very impressive, ar better than a truck at this price usually receives, nd they even added correct blue tape stripes to separate the two colors, nice touch. It doesn't look like this truck ever worked for a living, nd most short bed/regular cab models were purchased as drivers, hich is surely how this one spent most of its life. The chrome and stainless trim is in great shape with the Silverado trim adding the stainless insert on the tailgate, ual chrome mirrors, nd shiny stainless steel belt moldings, ll of which make this truck look great. The bed itself is in fantastic condition, gain offering more evidence that it never had to haul gravel for a living and it's still up for a haul or two on weekends. After all, pickup truck is about the most useful tool you can own, ven if it's one that's this much fun to drive. The interior is a combination of original pieces and replacement parts, ll of which have an all-of-a-piece look that works quite well. We're guessing that the carpets and dash pad are recent replacements, hile the bench seat was surely reupholstered at some point as well. The materials and patterns are very authentic-looking, o the work doesn't stand out and it presents simply as a very well-maintained original. The Silverado got all kinds of options, ncluding factory A/C, ruise control, nd a tilt steering column and there's a newer JVC AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash powering modern speakers in the doors. The lever on the floor controls the 2-speed transfer case, o it's easy to switch between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive on the fly, feature that's so useful you'll wonder how you got by without it. The A/C is fully functional thanks to an R134a refrigerant upgrade and once you settle in behind the wheel, ou'll feel right at home after all these years. The engine is the original 350 cubic inch V8 topped by throttle-body fuel injection, o it's reliable and easy to maintain. There's plenty of evidence under the hood that this truck has been properly cared for over the years, ith the lone upgrade being a K&N filter in the original round filter housing. It's not all dressed up and shiny, ut you'll appreciate the rugged utility of the strong, orquey small block every time you drop it into gear. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, o even though it's a giant pickup on huge tires, uel economy is at least tolerable and it cruises pretty easily at highway speeds. The exhaust has been tweaked a bit with a high-flow catalytic converter and a Flowmaster muffler with twin turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle. You'll also note that this is a dual-tank truck, ffering bladder-bursting cruising range and a modest lift kit allows the use of those giant Falken off-road radials. This is a truck that could still be driven every day and not feel like you're giving up any modern comfort and convenience. If you like the look, ou're going to love how it drives. Call today! |
