This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 is the muscle car that does it all. Pedigree? It's a real-deal SS with its numbers-matching LS5. Options? Loaded, ncluding A/C and power windows. Restoration? Expertly done to a very high standard. You want the ultimate A-body? I think we just found it.Code 75 Cranberry Red is this car's original color, nd if you were ordering the ultimate Chevelle in 1970, ell, ouldn't that have been your choice? The car was beautifully restored not too long ago and we believe that the 2700 miles shown on the odometer are since the restoration was completed. Paint and bodywork are excellent, ith a deep shine to the two-stage urethane paint and great fit to all the panels. Proper black SS stripes were added, ince no Chevelle should go without, nd there's a functional cowl-induction hood with locking pins for the performance look. The black vinyl top is a nice addition, orking well with the black stripes to give the car a grown-up look, nd it, oo, s brand new. Shiny chrome bumpers, lot of freshly polished stainless trim, nd correct badges throughout make this Chevelle look right from any angle.Interestingly, his one originally came with a Saddle Tan interior, lthough during the restoration it was completely switched to basic black, hich is always a great choice in a red Chevelle. As a color change, ou know that everything inside is brand new, ncluding the seat covers, arpets, eadliner, nd dash pad, nd it all has a very crisp look. The console and gauge bezels might be original, o they show a little age, ut things like the steering wheel and horseshoe shifter are in great shape. The gauges are bright and crisp, ncluding the factory tachometer, nd you'll note that this car includes such luxurious options as factory A/C, ower windows and locks, nd a tilt steering column. The floor mats are so new that they're still wrapped in plastic and the A/C is now powered by environmentally-friendly R134a refrigerant that makes it easy to service in the future. The trunk is detailed with the right spatter finish paint, long with what might be the original mat and a vintage bias-ply Goodyear spare tire with jack.Pop that cowl-induction hood and you'll find the original, umbers-matching LS5 454 cubic inch V8. With a hydraulic cam, he LS5 was a bit more street-friendly than the mighty LS6, ut the torque curve was nice and fat and you could get goodies like A/C and power steering, aking it a lot easier to drive every day. It's fully rebuilt to stock specs and runs beautifully, nhaling through a factory Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and exhaling through cast iron exhaust manifolds. Chrome valve covers were standard equipment on the performance-oriented big blocks and the stain black inner fenders make the Chevy Orange block really pop. The TH400 3-speed automatic was built for big block applications just like this and the 12-bolt rear end just shrugs off the torque. The chassis is neatly detailed with satin black floors, stock-style dual exhaust system, nd a new gas tank hanging out back, nd it doesn't appear to have ever been rusty or wrecked. Correct SS wheels look great and are wrapped with 215/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials at all four corners. This is how you want to buy a Chevelle.
