Description of 1978 Chevrolet El Camino Black Knight |
This El Camino carries the rare Z16 Black Knight Package. There were approximately 1200 made before GM ceased production due to pending litigation associated with a copyright infringement. A quick Google search will supply you with this information. This is a complete original car that I received in trade a year ago. I was going to go through it and refresh it but I have three other projects in front of it so I wont get to this within a reasonable time. This car deserves attention. I currently use it for light hauling. I have the build sheet and it confirms the Z16 package. The mileage shown on this is believed original and has not rolled over based on discussion with PO. I believe this is a 2-owner car. The option list is extensive and includes:
Overall condition of body is respectable. There is rust and the rear bumper mount on the passenger side as well as a reinforcement plat under the axle need attention. With that said I would rate the frame a solid 8.5. The corrosion is minor but I disclose all I am aware of. Quarters have had some work done it appears. bed is solid. Floor pans look good. Its had a repaint and some of the original graphics were not reapplied. It runs and stops well and I have had it up to speed. It does burn oil but I believe it is valve seals. I have not done a compression check however. I believe this is a numbers match car but do need to check engine VIN again to be doubly sure. It is pictured with Ralley Wheels. These are not original, o not convey and are not for sale. It will come with the correct 14 inch package wheels. This is a complete and unmolested project vehicle in the increasingly popular G-Body style. Its one of 1,200 and a car you can get in and drive. My reserve is fair and reflects the value of the trade I made for this car. Hagerty shows this car valued at $9,400 for a base model El Camino. Though I feel those values are a bit high. The rarity of this vehicle associated with its completeness and drivability make it quite a value with my low reserve. Some basic terms and conditions
