Description of 1991 Chevrolet Blazer K5 Blazer |
1991 Chevrolet K5 Blazer with 4BT engine and custom 4’ x 8’ trailer I built this a few years ago as a hunting and fishing rig and we just need something bigger. I am the second owner and bought this from California Dept of Fire in central California. 0% rust on blazer, his is a true California truck. Been all over the west and would not hesitate to drive it across the country. Nothing is wrong or needs to be changed. Everywhere I go we are stopped to ask questions or to admire the vehicle. Hard to go the hardware store for a quick trip sometimes. Once people hear the turbo they get very confused. The build parameters were 1. Reliability – single wire hookup for engine to run, lso new engine good for many miles 2. Good fuel economy – get around 22 mpg with 35” tires and great power 3. Stupid simple – common parts used, othing exotic 4. Nice power – more power and torque than the built 350 that was in it 5. Weight – wanted to keep weight down. No Dana 60 or FF 14 bolt New 4BT engine 20,000 miles ago. Not a junkyard pull or a Twinkie truck used engine. It is a Case Reman for an excavator and I put on a new (not rebuilt) Bosch VE pump. 4" suspension lift with 1" body lift to clear engine All factory gauges, eater and A/C work great Air-to-air intercooler 3” stainless exhaust 2 speed electric fan 1 Stage fuel pin adjusted for good economy and power. Can be turned up for quite a bit more power. Does not smoke at all while driving, ven under heavy load. Rebuilt 4L80E transmission to handle all the torque with a MegaShift controller. 20K on trans. Slip yoke elimination kit installed on transfer case. Custom Denny’s rear CV driveshaft Custom rear tire swingout bumper with 5 gallons of water, gallons of fuel, y Lift jack and full size spare. Also wraps around rear of body to protect body. Custom side rock sliders Semi-float 14 bolt rear end with Detroit locker and disc brakes on 8 lug pattern 10 bolt 32 spline front differential with 8 lug pattern Quad HID headlights Dual isolated batteries A/C blows cold Tilt, ruise and power windows New interior includes dash pad (not a cover but the entire pad) new door panels, ew vinyl flooring throughout, ush matted the entire front of the cab bottoms, nside doors, nd firewall and spray in bed liner in the entire back half of interior. Very nice modern stereo and amp with 4 speakers and a 10” sub in the rear Built the custom trailer about 2 years ago to haul my ATV and other items. Has 3500 lb. springs on a 7000 lb. 8 lug axle. With the trailer hooked up you have two full size spares that can be installed on the trailer or blazer. LED lights with bright backup lights on trailer. Aluminum front box for storage. Herculiner sprayed on the entire thing. Rear tailgate comes off and can be slid into the side pockets on the right side to make a table.
