Description of 1956 Chevrolet Corvette |
This 1956 Corvette just finished a 3-year body off restoration. Rebuilt with a period correct 225 HP 265 engine, -speed transmission, nd includes the rare, arly 1956 heads, ntake, nd carbs. Most everything on this car was rebuilt or replaced, triving to keep it as original as possible (the radio speaker is missing). It is believed that this car has been in the Des Moines, owa, rea its whole life. Its history includes racing at the Des Moines Drag Way during the 1960s. It was called the "Mighty Mouse" since it raced against cars with bigger engines. In 1967, hen the drag way closed, he car was dismantled with the intent to be restored. However, t remained in pieces until I purchased the car in 2012. I preformed a complete frame up restoration which was finished in 2015. During the summer of 2015 my wife and I entered the car in five local car shows. Show Class Award Warren Co. Corvette show (Indianola, A) C1 (1953-1962) First Mark Twain Corvette show (Hannibal, o) C1 (1953 1962) First Class Car Show (Clear Lake, A) C1/C2 (1953-1982) First Madrid Car Show (Madrid, A) C1 (1953 1962) First Gladbrook Classic Car Show (Gladbrook, A) No Class Top 15 Rides and drives great. No disappointments. Inspection encouraged. On the title, in IA has been added because of title being reissued by the state of Iowa. Correct hard top in process of being finished (no stainless on front of top). Mileage may change. Car doesn't leave until all funds clear. Will assist with arrangements for shipping. This car is indeed a piece of history...a true survivor of the good old days!!! |
