Very Rare! 1983 6.2L Chevy Suburban Turbo Diesel Project This listing is to buy out my entire project. Take everything off of my hands! All of the parts, ncluding the extra vehicles that I bought for parts! I'll be honest, don't know if I'll end up being able to sell this project. I am posting to see if I can get an offer that I can live with. I am torn between walking away from it and having the project finished or just parking it for years until I have more money to come back to it. I have about twice my buy-it-now price invested... My goal was to have one of the great, lassic square body Chevy Suburbans that would also be incredibly fuel efficient and also do some fairly powerful towing. The ultimate classic road warrior / road trip vehicle! According to my research, his 2WD 6.2L could be one of the most fuel efficient SUVs of all time! I was expecting to get 30 miles to the gallon once everything was done, nd still hopefully over at least 16-18 mpg while towing! (Although right now the tires are too big. It has 31" inch tires right now. It should have 29" tires for better fuel economy.) The three vehicles included are: - 1983 2WD C10 Chevrolet Suburban, .2 diesel. (The main vehicle for this project. I'll list some of the upgrades/work I've had done below. It's mechanically sound. I've driven it across the country. towing a trailer. You can see some photos I took at an overlook in the mountains in Virginia.) Low miles!!! Only about 97,XXX original miles! Mostly what it needs now is just in the "looks" department... exterior paint, tc. Although the interior is partially replaced/restored already! Clear title - 1989 4x4 GMC Suburban, .2 diesel (Bought as a parts vehicle. and some parts have been picked off by my mechanic as he needed them. The engine and transmission are still in it. The rear axle has been removed and was put on the main vehicle.) Not sure of the mileage right now... probably close to 200k? I bought it but never registered it as it was for parts. I can try to get it titled if interested... - 1986 2WD C20 Chevrolet Suburban, 54 big block gas engine! (Bought as a parts vehicle, owever it remains UNTOUCHED. Everything is still there!!! It was donated to a salvage yard and I bought it. It does run and drive on its own power. Probably not ready to be on the road as-is, hough. We honestly never really dug into it. I was expecting it to be a junker and to just pick parts off of it, ut it actually was in much better shape than I expected so we decided to leave it alone. Use it for parts or whip it back into shape. Up to you!) Not sure of the mileage right now. Probably well over 100k No title, ould have to try to get a salvage title Ok, o here's what I know about the Main Vehicle, nd I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff and feel free to ask questions: - 1983 6.2L Diesel Suburban 2WD Silverado, Carmine Red" exterior. And "Carmine Red" interior. Has the original vinyl seats still, st and 2nd row. No rips or tears in the vinyl, lthough there is some sun discoloration on the passenger seat. I personally love that old red/maroon/burgundy interior color, nd the vinyl in particular seems like it's getting harder and hard to find! - Carmine Red interior, s I said... and I've already replaced the dash. NOT A DASH COVER, ut a completely new dash up to OEM standards. No cracks in the dash! I also have had the headliner removed and replaced! Brand new headliner... board, abric, verything new, lthough it may need to be adjusted, t's got a droop right now. I also bought NEW replacement interior door panels from LMC to replace the sun-faded ones in the front. They are still new in the box and need to be installed. I have replacement carpet/kick panels for the front doors as well, ot installed yet. Finally, had a matching red OVERHEAD CONSOLE from a 1991 Suburban installed in the front. The 1983's didn't come with the overhead console, ut I wanted the extra lights and storage options. - Silverado package - power windows, ower locks, rivacy glass for the rear. All of the window motors and locks have been replaced with new and they all work, ven the big tailgate window in the back! - It has air conditioning, ncluding rear air! Very rare for that time! The A/C was working last summer (I paid my mechanic to fix it), ut I noticed it is not working now. Maybe has a leak and needs recharged? - Banks turbo kit installed! - Dashboard instrument cluster upgrade from Dakota Digital! Very cool update to make your dash more modern while still retaining the classic look and style. Check out the photos and look up more info from Dakota Digital! This alone was probably a $2,000 upgrade, ot including labor to install it. I also bought the gauges for exhaust temp, ransmission temp, nd boost. Already installed (mostly, 'll explain)! But I don't think my guy has the transmission temp module fully wired. Also the tachometer was not standard on a 1983 Suburban, o an additional module is required to make the new digital tachometer work. ALL of the extra gauges are able to be "toggled" through on the instrument cluster! NO unsightly extra gauges for the turbo sticking out on the pillar or anywhere else. All the gauges live IN the standard instrument layout... you just tap a button to cycle through them. Super cool. Other updates are available if you want them and plug into the system to give your car even MORE modern gauges. They all plug into this main part. Definitely check out all the cool extra features you can have. - New shocks and struts /Air shocks added to the back to help with towing and tongue weight. (I'm not 100% on this. My mechanic recommended it and I said "okay" back when I had more money. There is an air nipple near the rear license plate now for adding or deflating air from the rear... - 3.42 gear ratio in the rear end. Best all around ratio according to my research. A good mix of good MPG but still power for towing. - New 40 gallon fuel tank, ew sending unit - New exhaust - Tow hitch, ew trailer light wiring added with the new 7 way plug in for modern trailers. Should control everything except the electric trailer brakes. If you want to tow a 4 plug trailer you just need an adapter. - New windshield wiper motors - New washer fluid pump - It had cruise control. but the digital instrument panel now relies on the tachometer to make the cruise work. You'll have to get the tachometer working before you can get the cruise working again. Dakota Digital should be able to help if you contact them. - New radio (I don't love it but it was a temporary upgrade until I put something nicer in. It does have a plug-in to listen to audio from the headphone jack on your phone, p3 player, tc. What's "bad?" It does need a paint job. And the interior carpeting should be replaced. There is a tiny bit of rust, ut it's way, ay less rust than you'd usually expect. That's all I can think of right now. Like I said this old Suburban is already "there," mechanically... it just needs the cosmetic stuff and bells and whistles finished. I drove it to Louisiana and back last month, owing a trailer, nd it took the trip no problem. And as you can see in the photos, t can even handle towing up and down mountains! As of right now it'll easily go over 80 miles per hour with no trailer. Which if you know these older 6.2ls, hat's haulin' pretty well and great for passing on the highway!
