From the AK era forward, every generation has found a solid following and, eventually, firm footing in the collector car world. Over the past few years, we've featured plenty of vintage, ground-pounding bowties, and this righteous stepside is just the latest in a series of sweet C/K head turners. Mixing a spry Corvette small block and proven GM 4-speed with bodywork that'll sit well on any show field, this road-ready warrior is worthy of EVERY Chevrolet fan's full attention. If you're shopping for a clean classic that mixes modern detailing with purposeful simplicity, take a close look at this Action Line resto-mod! BODYWORK/TRIM As far as styling goes, few vehicles have aged better than late '60s and early '70s Chevrolets. In fact, toeing the line between rock-solid and refined, the Action Line C/K is probably one of the most attractive trucks ever built. This C10, a solid canvas that was ready to reflect some smooth street rod art, benefitted from a detailed, body-off restoration which wrapped a striking coat of Metallic Green 2-stage in a bleve of well-placed details. At the front of the truck, a retrofitted 'egg crate' grille hangs a familiar blue bowtie between a polished bumper, amber parking lamps and bright halogen headlights. At the sides of that grille, a wet looking profile centers chrome door handles and traditional mirrors between bold "C/10" emblems and bright marker lamps. At the top of that profile, straight stainless trim and polished stainless wipers frame smoked greenhouse glass. Behind that glass, fresh stainless skid strips secure requisite wood planks around a relocated fuel filler. And at the back of that bed, a stamped tailgate hangs sleeved chains above a second polished bumper and traditional taillights. ENGINE Take a look under the truck's broad hood and you'll find 5.7 liters of LS1 V8 that make over 300 horsepower! Straight from the factory, the proven mill combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat top pistons to create razor-sharp throttle response and a torque band that's as wide as Texas. At the front of the engine, GM serpentine components spin a fresh alternator and modern AC compressor beneath a polished Spectre air tube and reusable Spectre filter element. Once oxygen enters that tube, it flows through a factory throttle body to a GM intake, which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High-octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through quality MSD plug wires. Spent gases roar through coated Sanderson block huggers. And cooling comes courtesy of a beefy PRC radiator that's fitted with two SPAL puller fans. Aesthetically, both the Cast Silver mill and its assortment of fresh accessories seem right at home inside their glossy, Metallic Black frame. And details like polished caps, braided fluid lines, Corvette rail covers and a "CHEVROLET" branded hood mat ensure this Chevy has the looks to match its performance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Naturally, that clean, road-ready mill precedes a clean, road-ready chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec suspension that was fully rebuilt during the truck's ground-up restoration. Behind the smooth small block, a proven 4L60E 4-speed spins a tough 12-bolt axle. Modern power steering makes parking easy and turns a cinch. Stops are provided by power-assisted discs and drums. The aforementioned headers feed fresh, 2.5-inch pipes, which employ welded, dual-chamber mufflers. And power meets the pavement through chrome REV 100s, which twist a quartet of 275/40R20 A-Plus A607s. INTERIOR When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a comfortable cockpit that, in traditional truck fashion, features conservative Black vinyl. Top dead center, a color-keyed dash hangs a straight, weather-free pad above modern, direct-fit audio, vintage-look Classic Instruments telemetry and knobs for the aforementioned climate control. In front of that dash, standard shoulder belts frame a broad bench seat. Under that seat, fade-free carpet anchors bowtie-branded floor mats between bowtie-branded sill plates, a billet accelerator pedal and stainless-trimmed brake pedals. At the sides of that carpet, color-keyed doors found ornate, wood-trimmed panels under traditional chrome handles. And in front of the driver, a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel laps a modern, tilting column. Perpetually cool and visually stunning, this awesome C10 is a classic example of the skill and creativity that defines our hobby. With its clean craftsmanship and excellent asking price, it presents the rare opportunity to land a well-done showstopper that doubles as a well-done road warrior. Don't miss your chance to own this striking Action Line Chevy! |
