Description of 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
1970 was the peak of the muscle car era, and this stunning 1st Generation 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a bona fied head-turner, fusing old-school American muscle with aggressive/sleek styling. Sporting a hard-to-find high-performance Chevy 400 small block, this beautiful black & metallic silver coupe is a great show and go car that looks awesome and delivers a serious punch under the hood. Born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, you will not find a 60’s/70’s car with completely dry metal that is in this great of shape! The engine and transmission only have about 2,000 miles on them!! If a Chevelle is just a little too ordinary for you, perhaps this Monte Carlo is a better choice. As Chevy's big luxury cruiser, the Monte Carlo sports an unbelievable amount of room under the hood, and this fully-custom overhaul has a very cohesive look that befits its stature at the top of the Chevrolet hierarchy. The chiseled Monte Carlo look was sophisticated for 1970, with a notable lack of ornamentation and muscular-looking quarters that made this personal luxury coupe look anything but tame. This one has been completely stripped of logos and badging, the chrome is excellent (brand new bumpers), the stainless steel has been well maintained, it has a custom-built billet grille, and the paint scheme was inspired by a Chip Foose concept. The entire interior has been re-done to match the black and silver ‘tuxedo’ theme, and the bucket seat interior is extremely clean with new leather throughout. The carpets are recent additions, and items like the door panels, lights, and headliner are completely overhauled and in excellent condition. You'll also note that this car carries the factory heater and an upgraded floor-mounted gear selector (super cool) from a Chevelle. The entire steering column is a brand-new rebuild and the new ignition and battery setup ensures that it cranks up very reliably. In fact, I drive it to work about once a week for fun. Modern additions include a nice CD/Bluetooth player, as well as built-in pioneer speakers and amp. One of the virtues of a full-sized car is the giant trunk, which is very clean and completely re-finished. The original small block is gone, replaced by a stout 400+ cubic inch crate motor that's been heavily fortified and bored 40 over for use in this monster coupe. Mounted with a top-of-the-line Holley Street Avenger 670 cfm 4-barrel carb and cooled with gorgeous electric fans, this Monte will push you back in your seat when you hit the pedal. With a smooth idle and big torque, it moves the Monte Carlo effortlessly with a fantastic muscle car soundtrack out the back of the dual exhaust. The engine bay has been nicely detailed for show, with lots of chrome and numerous after-market upgrades. The TH350 automatic transmission shifts flawlessly and the engine has been finely tuned for a smooth ride. A completely re-built and fortified front-end gives this Monte an aggressive stance and completes a look that neatly blends performance and luxury into one package. The day of the Monte Carlo can't be far off because cars this cool can't stay this affordable forever. You will not find a comparable car in this price range.
