Description of 1955 Chevrolet 3100 |
Up for auction is my 1955 Chevy 3100 pickup. I have had these before and for the most part they drove, well, like trucks. This one does not! It may have started out as an old pickup, but the builder found a complete S15 to use as the drivetrain. Instead of bolting the fuel injected V6 into the old truck, he used the entire frame, driveline, and suspension of the S15 along with the four wheel drive, and modified the 1955 cab and bed to the S15. The result is a much better driving experience with fuel injection, power steering and brakes, AC, gas tank relocated to rear bed, etc. Although it sounds easy to bolt these together, there was a huge amount of fabrication required. I complete custom firewall was made and side panel supports fabricated to make this work. Since I obtained the truck, I have had a custom made driveshaft install with new yokes and ujoints, new pioneer blue tooth stereo system which works with iphone, custom tilt front hood with racing tie downs, new chrome door handles, cranks, mirrors, door hinges (top and bottom), gas tank filer to rear bed, new oil cooling lines and new front windshield, signal lights and much more. The truck has AC installed and working with the exception the original builder did not fabricate tubing pushing the fan air through the evaporator. So the system works but not cold air through the vents as it should. I don't use the air much but this would be the next project I would handle. All gauges work except when I installed the stereo, I must have pulled fuse for temp gauge as it stopped working. All lights work perfect. The body does have minor rust, but I don't know if it should be repaired as it adds to the look. Yes the paint looks this way on purpose! The idea is to have a sleeper which runs like a top but looks like this. I have too many toys and wife says some have to go...Please come drive vehicle before you bid. I have perfect history and try to describe the truck as accurately as possible. Call with any questions. Jim (727)235-3472 |
