Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS,SS,396/375 |
1968 L78/396/375HP/RS/SS/ 4 SPEED CAMARO (NUMBERS MATCHING) This is a 375 hp RS/SS. The numbers and date codes are correct and match the vin. Overall a very nice car. Runs and drives good with no problems. Manual steering and brakes that work as designed. It doesn't pull and stops very well. The body is in excellent shape, I have found no evidence of any unusual Bondo or cancer. It is the original Lemans blue. When I bought the car I went over it with a very light refrigerator magnet and found nothing worth a further look. The floors and trunk appear to be original and are perfect. The rockers look great as well and may be original. The gaps are all even and the doors hang and close like new. It does have some bubbling on the lower fenders and front of the doors like usual along with some scratches and flaws. Overall doesn't need paint but if you want it really show quality I would paint it but no emergency. The interior is excellent and the dash uncut. (aftermarket stereo in the stock opening). The heat works. The vacuum rs headlight system is present but disconnected due to leaks. I just open them manually and was going to change to electric, ($500.00) but decided to sell instead. I never drove the car at night so for me it wasn't a priority. Exhaust is 3 inch with crossover and near new. Car has Hooker headers. Rear is factory matching 12 bolt Posi . Trans shifts perfectly. The car has been driven very little since last rebuild. Front end is tight and sub frame bushings are new. Has traction bars (which I hate but some love) easily removable if desired. Basically this is a really good car and runs like a beast. I also have a brand new set of torque thrusts for this car that I can swap out if desired, they are in one of the pics. I have enjoyed having it but family needs force me to sell. Please feel free to come and look or have it inspected before bidding. I do have video of the car running that I can send directly. Text is fastest so please send a cell number with any communication. I am located near Atlantic City NJ and am available most days (weather permitting) to show the car.
