Description of 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle

Clean summer drivers don't get much better than this 1966 Chevy Chevelle. With a fresh 350 cubic inch small block it's plenty entertaining to drive, while the icy silver flanks look great hammering down the highway. Freshly reskinned for 1966, Chevy positioned the Chevelle as a car that could do anything. With a wide variety of engines, transmissions, body styles, and options, it could be anything from an economical commuter to a scary fast track terror. This one seems to have landed somewhere in the middle, and if you're anything like me, you're probably pleased to see that this one hasn't been over-dressed in fake SS livery. Instead it has quality bodywork on top of a straight car. The current silver paint is beautifully done and probably pretty close to the code W Chateau Slate it wore when it was new. With handsome hardtop styling and those classic flying buttresses (the tunneled rear window), this car has always been in fashion and in demand, and you'll look pretty hard at this car to find any notable demerits. A simple full-width front grille emphasizes the car's basic integrity, and with a simple flat hood, the standard grill works rather well. Chrome on both bumpers is very good, and the stainless sure looks like well-maintained original stuff. Like the body, the interior appears to have been restored as needed, and today combines original and new components. Dressed in basic black, its simple, elegant design shows you what Chevy was aiming for in '66. The most noteworthy upgrade is a beautiful dashboard full of Dolphin gauges that almost look like the factory meant for it to look that way. The seats are in good shape, offering fresh seat covers that duplicate the original pattern. Carpets are very good, thanks to a set of heavy-duty rubber floor mats, and who doesn't dig the awesome center console with its built-in clock and stylish shifter handle? A/C has been neatly installed under the dash in such a way as to look almost OEM, but the original AM radio is still in the center, but the real entertainment comes from a hidden AM/FM/CD head unit. A thick 4-spoke steering wheel is a nice upgrade over the skinny plastic factory unit and the very clean trunk has correct spatter finish paint and a new mat, as well as a full-sized spare and the aforementioned stereo head unit.Under the hood there's a fresh 350 cubic inch small block crate motor with all the traditional hot-rod parts. Installed about 6000 miles ago, it wears a Holley carb, Edelbrock intake manifold, HEI ignition, and long tube headers, not to mention those cool black wrinkle Chevrolet valve covers. Almost everything that isn't black was polished or chromed, including the accessories and the aluminum radiator up front. At a glance, the engine looks very fresh and you can tell this is where a lot of the money was spent. Power steering and power front disc brakes are part of the package, making this Chevelle a pleasure to drive. It's backed by the aforementioned TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end. The undercarriage is largely original but remains in excellent shape and it all rides on a set of traditional polished Torque Thrust wheels and BFGoodrich T/A radials. Get in, turn the key, and start enjoying it immediately. The small block under the hood makes all the right sounds and thanks to the long list of upgrades, it's ready to drive anywhere. Don't let this car get by you, because nice ones are getting more difficult to find all the time. Call today!
