Description of 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS 396

Up for auction is this true 1969 Nova SS396/375 L78 car, 4 speed car. This car is a project. The car was purchased by me about 2 years ago and is a project I have never gotten to. The gentleman I purchased this car from purchased the car from his co-worker who had the car for 45 years.

The car overall is pretty clean. The car has excellent rust free frame rails, rust free trunk, rust free rockers, excellent doors that shut like new, good fenders etc. Car has good weather stripping. The car does have some rust in the driver’s side toe board and passenger rear toe board and will need replacement but the car does not need a complete floor. There is also some slight rust over the tops of the wheel lips but inner and outer wheel wells look good. The driver side quarter has a good size dent in the lower quarter that will need repaired or replaced. This car has only had one repaint in its’ lifetime and was repainted its’ original color of LeMans blue. The car has all of its’ original body panels except the driver’s side fender. Car has all the original badging, lights etc.

The interior in the car is complete. It’s an original black interior with a rubber floor mat. Most of the interior is in decent condition and its’ all usable. The original dash and dash pad are in nice shape. Everything interior wise is intact. Car has nice glass all the way around.

The car is missing the original transmission. For some reason, the owner before me kept the one that came with the car according to the owner who had the car for 45 years. There is an original L78 block included with this car but is not the original but is only a couple hundred VINs from the original VIN of the car. There are pictures of the original deck stamping included below. I do not know much about the block other than its’ a good, usable block with no sleeves or cracks. The car does have the 12 bolt but I have not checked any codes.

All of the original disc brake equipment is on the car. Also, the car has its’ original 3’8 fuel line still intact. I have the original, date coded brake booster, the original date coded heater core and date coded big block box cover that is original to the car.

As you can see from the pics, most of the original parts from this car are included. Also, there are some new parts like inner fenders, front bumper, grill liner etc. This is an excellent project car that will not require chasing a bunch of parts. Its’ a real SS 396/375 car at a fair price. According to the owner of 45 years, this car was always garaged and well taken care of. I have the previous owner of 45 years contact info. He loves to tell stories about the car and is glad to talk. I have no documentation on the car. This is a project car. Ask all questions before bidding and I would be happy to answer. The car is also available for inspection prior to purchase. If someone wants a $500 credit for the cragars, I will keep them if you bring rollers to put on the car.
