For your consideration is a virtually all original 1969 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickup that has been partially disassembled in preparation for a frame off restoration. I have owned this truck since 1988, and drove it for about two years as a daily construction work vehicle (thus why the toolbox in the bed), and in the spring of 1990 I began the task of turning it into a "100 point" vehicle at the urging of some friends who marveled at how original and untouched the truck was and that it was in great condition. One of the key things that was pointed out to me was the fact that many of the original wax pencil markings that were placed on the truck to make sure the correct option parts were placed on it as it went down the assembly line were intact under the hood and on the frame. So, as I began to take it apart, I also began the task of identifying the parts I would need to reassemble it and see just how many "OEM" parts I could find. I worked on this project with fierce determination for about 9 months, and then life began to chip away at the time I had available to dedicate to it, and the next thing you know it is 2016 and I find I now have other interests that make it quite unlikely I will ever be able or want to finish this project. This truck was assembled in St Louis, MO and had a 396 V-8 big block for power and a turbo hydra-matic 400 transmission (that is still with the truck). It was equipped with A/C, power steering and brakes, tinted glass (that is still original and intact), heavy duty rear springs, front stabilizer equipment, custom comfort and appearance equipment, black custom cloth seats, gauge instrument cluster, AM push button radio, upper and lower body side moldings, chrome bumper-front & rear. I have been told this was built as a "Western" truck as it is a 1/2 ton with the 396 big block. The story I heard is that this was a good combination for the heat and the necessity of using the A/C almost all the time the truck was in use. I purchased the truck from a used car dealer owner here in Michigan who used the truck with a fifth wheel set-up to haul rust- free cars back from out west. He told me that the truck always drove great, never let him down and hauled his set-up with ease. He owned the truck for about 2-3 years and told me that he purchased it in the Phoenix, AZ area. In the 2 year time period I drove the truck, the only trouble I had with it was a starter that went bad, and I replaced the shocks as the original ones were just plain shot. I have no knowledge of the trucks history prior to the person I bought it from. The truck is very solid for the most part, with very minimal surface rust on the interior, exterior and underneath. The worst rust is located in the drivers and passengers foot-well areas and rocker panels. I do have NOS GM rockers, but did not acquire new foot-well floor panels, but reproductions are available. The cab corners are solid along with the doors and door bottoms. Front fenders are very solid, and the box (except for the tailgate) is in very good condition. The tailgate is a bit bent, so I did purchase an NOS GM replacement. Along with the rockers and tailgate, I have NOS GM Front Grille, Radiator Core Support, RT Front Wheel Well Housing, Dash Pad, and a Complete set of Upper and Lower Side Moldings that are 98% GM NOS. There are many other NOS GM and aftermarket parts that I purchased, and there are photos of the complete list of GM parts with part numbers along with the receipts for the aftermarket parts. These parts were all purchased in 1990 at dealer discount pricing, and I had over $4,000 in cost purchasing them, and many if not most are now unavailable NOS GM, and if they are, I would think the cost for them would be significantly more than what they cost me. This is a rare opportunity for the right person who wants to have a vintage 1969 Chevy Pickup done the way they want. You can go all out and go for a "100 point" vehicle as I was going to, or something less involved, but here is the right truck, with many hard to obtain NOS parts that has been started and needs to be taken the rest of the way to completion. THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE TRUCK The original 396 V-8 Big Block and hood is not included, they were lost through a series of unfortunate events. Original to the truck Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission is included. Truck shows evidence of having been repainted at some point in the past. As it was being taken apart, the original parts were put in boxes and the boxes were marked as to what they contain. The bolts, screws and fasteners that held it together were for the most part bagged and tagged, but some were not. The original side moldings are still with the truck, but not necessarily in the best of shape. Behind the cab bed toolbox is included. Sale includes Chevrolet Chassis Service and Overhaul Manuals, Chevrolet 1946-72 Chassis and Body Parts Catalog, and a Chiltons 1970-84 Chevrolet Service Manual. I have a clear title in hand showing my 1988 date of acquisition. Please scroll down to see additional large photos of truck, parts removed and NOS parts.
