Description of 1973 Chevrolet Camaro |
The definition of a pro touring build is to take a classic beauty like this ’73 Camaro andfill it with modern internals and a high horse power engine. It's been done over and over to the point where it’s really no big deal anymore. However, every now and then there comes a build that really pops out on thecar showcircuit. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. With only2200 miles since a complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration, this carwas featured in a 5 page article of Chevy High Performance Magazine in December of 2009. With a modern suspension, a luxurious suede interior, and a 425 hp engine, this Camaro is the envy of any speed demon looking tocapture the heartbeat of America. Body ThisCamaro’s bodywasshotin Sikkens basecoat clearcoat Dodge Viper Yellow with a custom black stripe painted down center. At the front of the body a billet aluminum grill sits above the front chin spoiler andpowder coated bumper. The hood is a Goodmark 2” cowl induction made of steel and features alow rise to direct fresh cool air into the engine bay. Both the rear quarter panel to roof and the tail pan to rear quarter panel seams were welded and filled in which adds to the smooth blended theme. At the back of the body, a painted spoiler sits perfectly atop the truck lid with both the rear bumper and tail lightsbezels powder coated creating a look that is sure to garner plenty of attention. Engine This ’73 Camaro features a new GM Performance ZZ4 350 cubic inch monster with a Pro Systems 780 cfm double pumper carb and Edelbrock fuel pump for the ultimate blend of reliability and power.Speaking of power, this mill was coupled with the LT4 Hot Cam kit resulting in over 425 horsepower. The tricked out engine looksamazing against the satin black firewall. On the sides andfront of the engine, you'll notice a full carbon fiber close out panel along with matching carbon fiber radiator cover.Take a closer look on the right and you'll find a Hydratech hydraulic brake system matched with a Wilwood dual master cylinder and braided stainless plumbing.A Spectra Premium 4 row radiator and aluminum overflow tank with the help ofa 16” Spal Extreme puller electric fan is responsible for cooling the 350. Spent gasses travel down ceramic coated Hooker Super Comp Headers through a Pypes 2.5" custom stainless X pipedual exhaust system utilizing free flow Race Pro mufflers that exit out just behind the rear tires. Suspension Jack this Camaro up and you’llsee the clean smooth Red Oxide covered undercarriage that shows just howintricate this build really was.The Hotchkiss coil spring suspension up front is strengthened by a Heidt’s subframeconnector. Global West tubular upper and lower control arms are connected to a quick ratioAGRStreet Power steering rack turning 17" Hot Wheels Sixty-Eight wheels shod wtih 255/40/17 Sumitomo HTR-Z tires. At the rear of the undercarriage you’ll find a Hotchkiss TVS rear suspensionkit with their sport leaf springs and a steel balanced Inland Empire driveshaft connected to a stout Moser 12 bolt with Detroit Tru-Trac posirear end spinning wide275/40/17 Sumitomo sport tires thru 3.73 gears.
