Description of 1986 Chevrolet C-10 4X4 |
Admit it, you've always admired big, tastefully-done 4x4s like this 1986 Chevy C10 4x4. It keeps its clean, chiseled look but amps it up a bit with the usual 4x4 upgrades and a rockin' LS1 V8, and the result is like a stock truck on steroids. It's also loaded with options, making it a high-quality, yet affordable, proposition.Anything this big is going to command a lot of attention, so it's good news that it's in excellent shape, even up close. It was repainted and there's no sneaking around in a big red truck like this, so it looks appropriate and bright red seems to hold up better than almost anything else over time. It doesn't look like this was a work truck, and instead the short bed/regular cab was probably used for commuting and fun on weekends during its early years. As a result, the bodywork is in great shape with straight panels and good gaps that don't show any signs of abuse, and other than a few blemishes on the hood, the paint shines up nicely. It doesn't have the usual over-done off-roading clichs, just clean sheet metal, all the factory chrome and stainless trim, and an awesome stance. There's also a spray-in bedliner that allows you to still put the truck to work, although it's pretty obvious that this was built to play instead. The handsome black interior is typical late-80s GM, with velour-like upholstery that's comfortable and durable. The door panels show some modest wear, particularly where the driver's elbow might rest, but things like the carpets and dash pad are quite good. Factory instruments are stashed behind an aftermarket billet aluminum gauge panel that updates the interior's look, and there's a newer leather-wrapped steering wheel that has a 3-spoke look that's exactly right for a V8 Chevy. Options include factory A/C, power windows and locks, and a tilt steering column, making this a no-compromises pickup that can work well and coddle its passengers. An AM/FM/CD stereo has been fitted in the lower corner of the instrument panel, replacing the original radio, and it sounds great through speakers fitted in the stock locations. Heavy-duty floor mats help protect those original carpets and there's a sliding rear window for those days that don't quite need the A/C.The engine is an all-aluminum LS1 V8 retrofitted with a 4-barrel carburetor and a stand-alone ignition system, so it starts easily, idles well even when it's cold, and has a nice, flat torque curve that's perfect for a full-sized pickup. It's a neat fit in the engine bay, and aside from the chrome Edelbrock air filter, could almost pass for OEM. Backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, it's comfortable around town and cruises easily on the highway without getting buzzy, mostly thanks to those giant tires. A custom dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers gives it a definite hot-rod sound that really works with the big 4x4 look, and while it's not detailed underneath, it is in good shape with no signs of abuse or neglect. Twin gas tanks give it bladder-bursting range on the highway and the upgraded suspension gives it a great look plus space for those outrageous wheels and massive 37x13.50-20 off-road radials. It's OK, we all know these are cool trucks. If you've wanted one since you were a kid, this is a nice one that's got all the toys and is ready to go right away. Call today and start having fun! |
