1979 C-10, 55K original miles

1979 Chevy C-10, 55K original miles, Big 10 model, Silverado trim package.

If you are a Chevy truck guy and want a completely original truck, stick with me and keep reading.

This truck has some crazy original stuff still on it and has not been torn up in any way. Other than some paint fade from sitting in storage 20+ years, this is how it came when it was assembled by GM!

Original paint – has some issues for sure, but no rust showing through anywhere. Cab corners, rockers, door bottoms are all chipped, but no bubbles or signs of impending issues

Original carpet and seat

Original dash

Original radio that works

Original single speaker in the dash – no holes cut in doors or kick panels

Original headliner – it is falling down, but is clean and looks great

Original cardboard wrapping around the passenger visor

Original glass, including the windshield (LOF and PPG)

Original plastic covering on the lower carpeted part of door

Original cardboard box for stowage behind the seat – in crazy near new shape

Mechanically:

350 engine with 400 trans – transmission must be part of the Big 10 package

Rochester carburetor with factory electric choke

No catalytic converters or smog equipment

Factory AC that still has the original compressor and is cold

Factory cruise control – it does not work, but is all there

Washer fluid reservoir is there and works

Power brakes and steering

Factory air cleaner and tube for cold air intake

Factory jack & tools still stored on top of passenger inner fender

Factory vacuum lines running everywhere – one of the first things to go for most

Factory shocks – I know it is weird, but they are

Heavy Duty leaf pack

Other:

Factory sticker on gas door indicating unleaded fuel only

Factory stickers that say Chevrolet around outside key holes

Factory dome light on top of cab in rear - has a switch on B pillar to turn on/off

Factory hood emblem

Factory rally wheels with nice trim rings and center caps

Factory front bumper with push guards

Factory bed rails with wood grain inserts

Spare tire still under the bed and it might even be the original

Side molding is all in very good condition and is not warped, peeled or falling off

Molding behind the cab below window looks excellent

Tailgate band is faded and such, but is in just darn near perfect shape

The inside of the bed is scratched and has surface rust, but looks perfect otherwise

The side of the fenders, doors, and quarter panels have a couple dents it total, but they are minor

The hood, top, and above the upper trim molding are faded, but have an amazing patina look

The buzzer to fasten your seat belt when starting the engine still works

Lights and gauges all work

New tires

Rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, and oil pan gasket just replaced to make this truck leak free

Transmission fluid and filter just serviced

Rear differential just serviced

Front bearings just re-packed

Front end completely greased

New spark plugs and air filter

AC just serviced

So don’t get me wrong, this is not a new truck. It sat for over 20 years and shows some signs of that. It was in Georgia. Georgia is a bit more humid than Phoenix, so it does have surface rust. Items like coil springs, control arms, leaf springs are all pretty well covered in surface rust. I could take a rattle can to all of it and you may or may not notice, but that would just not be fair to this original truck. There are even some areas where you can tell the mice hung out– I am not going to take those out. They are part of the story that this truck will tell you. These trucks are getting hard to find in any kind of decent condition where there is no rust to have to cut out and repair. They are even harder to find when they have original low miles like this one. Come out and have a look. If you are an old Chevy truck guy, you will smile after being able to see all of the stuff I have described above.
