Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS

There's a real purity to the early Camaros: clean lines, a small block V8 under the hood, and lively performance that is still impressive today. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS tells you all you need to know about why these cars were homeruns when they were new. With a nicely restored body in Hugger Orange, a rumbling 350 crate motor under the hood, and a clean, updated interior, this is a car that will make you smile every time you pull it out of the garage. The bodywork was refinished about twelve years ago in sizzling Hugger Orange, and while it wasn't technically on the menu in 1968, the results are nonetheless impressive. It's a vivid, bright color that bounces off the body and looks amazing in the sunlight, the perfect hue for an early V8 Camaro. The panels have obviously been professionally refinished to a high standard, with a lot of block sanding involved in getting everything smooth. RS and SS details were added during the restoration, but the effect is very convincing and who doesn't love the look of the stinger stripes running down the flanks? A cowl induction hood, an SS grille with hidden headlights, and proper 350 emblems were installed to complete the illusion. Front and rear bumpers are in great condition and shine up nicely, and there's a chin spoiler from a Z/28 underneath, complementing the awesome stance. Other additions correct taillights, an SS fuel cap, and the ducktail spoiler out back, which, honestly, every Camaro should wear. The interior has been tweaked and given a high-fashion makeover with reproduction seat covers that look awfully convincing. New carpets and a fresh headliner make it look almost new inside, the center console is dressed up with a woodgrain insert. The gauges appear to be all original with a set of accessory auxiliary gauges in the usual place above the console, just under the AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo. Our favorite automatic transmission shifter, the GM horseshoe, manages a 700R4 4-speed overdrive transmission, and the deep-dish factory steering wheel has that classic 1960s look that seems to show up in an awful lot of recent resto-mods we've seen, simply because it's an icon. The trunk is a pleasant surprise with a beautifully fitted custom enclosure for a pair of subwoofers, all tucked into a big bowtie emblem. The engine is a ZZ4 crate 350 that has been beautifully dressed with lots of chrome and polished aluminum. Performance enhancers include aluminum heads, a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, and a Mallory distributor fired by an MSD box. There's a good-sized bumpstick inside that gives it a nasty, cackling idle and plenty of high-RPM urge, and with just 5000 miles on it, is' barely broken in. Ceramic-coated long tube headers feed a custom dual exhaust system with a crossover, and as long as you're looking around, dig how tidy those floors are! The suspension is largely stock, so no worries about ride quality, and those 17-inch Foose wheels and 215/45/17 rubber give it the perfect stance.Tidy, nice-driving Camaros are not as common as you'd think, and although this one has some upgrades, it still delivers that original driving experience. With a sweet-running small block under the hood and a great-looking body, this is a car that will always be in demand. Call today!
