ROAD READY
Imperfect Stepchildren Born in the back lash of mega dollar show rods that spent their pampered lives in trailers, rusted rat rods burst onto the scene about 30 years ago – they were rough and tough and ready for fun - just like their owners. They were flashbacks to their early days of hot rodding when cars were modified and improved for performance using whatever parts were available. It is this premise and philosophy that brings rat rods to city streets and highways yet today.
THIS RAT ROD When I acquired this vehicle, people stared and raised their hands in positive gestures and made this rat king one of the most photographed vehicles on the planet. What fun!
If you’re not bashful and want to be noticed, envied or host a ton of comments and questions, this one is the car for you. It was born a 1968 Malibu 4-door sedan but not for long. A new car dealer reconstructed it and used it in an advertising promotion for many years. It was reconstructed and shortened to an 84-inch wheel base and only 168 inches long. In comparison, a 1968 Corvette measures 98-inch wheel base and is 182 inches long. It was professionally built and travels well; no issues at any speed, even on the expressway.
EXTERIOR
It has a Super Sport hood, the paint is very shiny, the graphics are “American” and brilliantly applied. There are some paint bubbles that are only noticed on close inspection. Two doors were made from four doors using one half of a rear door and one half of a front door. They are solid and open and close properly. The frame and the whole underside are solid and in very good condition – no issues here.
The trunk is original as are the body panels. Rally wheels and 80% tire tread offer a nice finish. ENGINE The V8 engine is strong, smooth, powerful and does not smoke. It is tied to an automatic transmission. The whole engine compartment has been detailed and can be shown with pride. Brand new stamped Hooker headers and the best sounding glass pacs were just installed. The car is quiet at an idle, yet offers a mild roar when accelerating.
INTERIOR The dash, carpeting and red bucket seats are sporty and comfortable. The gauges are clear, the odometer and speedometer work.
This is a drive it anywhere vehicle. It has been completely trouble free. It is now ready for a new owner. Bid with confidence - this is a whole lot of fun vehicle.

SHIPPING

In order to provide you with the best protection for your purchased vehicle, it is secured in our 20-car storage facility the same day as it is sold. We require a minimum of24 hours to remove your vehicle from storage and prep for delivery. You may do this by direct contact Monday – Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.Vehicle pick up can only be made at the above listed times.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

We require a $500 non-refundable deposit to be made within 24 hours of auction end and full payment within 7 days.

Reserve prices are not disclosed. You are welcome to make your best offer at any time by bidding that amount. On rare occasions, a vehicle is sold before the auction ends and we reserve that right. If and when we stop an auction, it will only be done after payment is made. At times, trades are considered; however, this is seldom done as our reserves are below market value.

We make no mileage claim on any vehicle 10 years old or older, even if the title states actual mileage. This complies with Michigan and Federal regulations. These vehicles are miles exempt; there is no exception.
